Beginners Tutorial

I let my partner play Graal the other day and he had no idea what to do or how to do it. He's 23 but still didn't understand the majority of the stuff. A guide on how to play the game would be good, didn't we have one but you removed it for an island or something...

Also servers, like Era; You just start and you have no idea what to do you log on and die then end up in hospital. A guide for each server on the serverlist giving information how to play would be beneficial.

G2k2 has a starting island which should be implemented to the classic playerworlds on how to play the server.

He enjoyed it, just found it complicated as it's not "user-friendly" he said; F7 as a playerlist - how was he s'pose to know that? or even the mass messages! >_<

i can agree to this. hmm will do something for Era, that's not a problem.

hmm maybe some video's for the Graal features though

A tutorial for every server would actually be really nice, but the ones who are Classic and Gold, it should be required.

I'd do one for Esteria once we have all the systems up, and I'd type one out for AEON and Bomy Island once everything is complete.

Great idea, I too recently invited a friend to play and he had no idea on what to do.

Or just revive the offline-tutorial.

But that means making Graal go from offline to online again (which I didn't see a problem with in the first place -_-)

Zero is already working on that. He's been trying to speak to each manager to get it implemented I believe. Its use is by pressing F1.

Offline editor was made standalone for security reasons (people were finding ways use the offline editor online).

Switch 10-21-2007 07:23 PM

That makes no sense whatsoever xD

You can see it in-the-works on Zodiac currently. I only have the controls part added as well as allowing servers to use the upper right panel for their server notice (to replace using the npcserver pm). I'll be adding the help section next for guides on basic controls and such.

What?

pooper200000 10-22-2007 12:33 AM

Why not just make a basic tutorial world that all new accounts must go through when loggin on they don't even see the login screen. It teaches them how to talk and what the main controls of graal are. Then after that they can go to each worlds indivualized tutorial planet and then play in the world?

It's actually awful and the players have received it to be a pain in the ass (myself included). Combined with the fact it looks terrible, it's nothing compared to a good old set of tutorial levels, and with a little bit of originality they could actually be worth going through.

The F1 window bull**** is exactly that.. bull****.

I must admit I hope servers will not be forced to use it. There are so much nicer ways to do it....more individualized to each server. Don't need a massive clunky GUI. The server list should exist on its own...no need for a clone for a lesser purpose.

It doesn't hurt to have it. Just as long as it doesn't open automatically...

Crono 10-24-2007 01:23 AM

Tutorials aren't needed. If a server is well made players should get the hang of it within their first login or two.

Switch 10-24-2007 03:22 AM

What if they don't know the controls and the staff don't tell them saying "Figure it out" or something, which I have seen? Not even how to talk? It took me about 5 logins to learn that which my nick as "Tell me how to talk" and I had to move up and down for a yes and left and right for a no otherwise there was no communication :p

Ravenblade1979 10-24-2007 07:34 PM

Well I think if they have played any server you should know basic controls but maybe a small informational help thing like zone has might be good.

Switch 10-24-2007 09:31 PM

Yeah. But when Zodiac before they had a little tutorial walking you through the first time you go on...
