More commands in ganis

I was just thinking, since graal is coded to recognize the animation the player is playing currently to determine what it will do, an example would be it sees sword.gani play, and then it hurts whatever is in the direction of player is attacking. My suggestion would be that animation detection be removed and commands for ganis be added, like hurt object and such. It would make it easier to do custom swords or 'S' weapons...it would also make it easier to do the img overlays it does when a player walks on swamp or shallow water tiles (such as replacing for custom sprite.png files).

I am suggesting this mostly, because of the addtiledef command...especially for my 4 different tilesets which are for the different seasons...it looks weird seeing green grass around your feet during winter ;) It would also allow for custom graphics for the objects players can carry (rocks, signs, etc.)

The possibilities with this idea are numerous, but not infinite :D

why not use replaceani

hehe, try using replaceani on carry ;) after you pick up an object, it will automatically throw it...because the animation is no longer carry.gani...samething goes for sword.gani

Well, the only problem which might coour if this is put in is that someone might edit his walk.gani to do sword hurting, what would happen then? Would other players be hurt by him with his edited walk.gani, or wouldn't this happen due to the fact that those other players don't have that same gani? Anyway, it isn't as easy to make as it may seem.

All players would have to have the same gani for it to work, as far as the walk and hurt thing would go ;) Cause that is also the case for any gani is that all players have to have it to see it, and if a person or persons modify their gani to do that, only they would be affected...iI remember that from the farming bug :D

I only know 2 commands in ganis :(
WAIT and PLAYSOUND :(

G_yoshi 07-20-2001 10:48 PM

there are more than those 2, but they are not documented, so very few people know about them. There are 2 commands that I know of that are put in through notepad....

I only wanted to do it so I could take a screenshot, I'm done now, got my screenshot :)
So you can make the player a light with setcoloreffect? Is it the same format of setcoloreffect r,b,g,a?

no, unfortunately, you cannot do it to the player sprites :/

entravial 07-21-2001 08:27 AM

you should be able to edit def.gani, and use it in replaceani

but im not sure if it's supported or not

G_yoshi 07-21-2001 11:37 AM

I am not sure of what def.gani does....judging by its name and what it does, it defines animations I suppose...check it through notepad.
