Suggestion about reputations

Why not make it so if someone gives you good or bad rep you cannot delete that post because I received repuation yesterday and then deleted my post which also deleted the reputation. Should that be changed?

Crow 06-19-2007 05:20 PM

Lets just remove the reputation. I dont think its really needed on these forums.

No. Why keep reputation for a post no longer there?

Why keep it? ;/ Or maybe let the small bars be small pluffys, that would be fun lol.

Well yes but should the player be the one choosing to keep the repuation when they can delete the post?

No, if you are afraid of the rep you will get, then maybe don't post what you are posting to begin with? I don't think too many people even care about the rep they get enough to change what you want changed.
It is a worthless system because too many people use it incorrectly.

That would just be silly.

Im not afraid of posting it. I am saying if I get bad rep I can delete the post and the bad rep that came with it...

Only 2,883 bad posts left to remove then jk'n ilu <3

Is there any point in reputation though? Who honestly gives it out that much (once a day)?

That is the point. You shouldn't be able to delete a post that has given you bad rep. x_x

Ah, I misunderstood your post. I thought you were asking to be able to delete posts that recieved bad rep. My bad.
I still fail to see what makes the difference. You can only delete your own posts for a certain amount of time.
I don't see where it is that big of a deal to bother Unixmad with...

I don't know but usually if you give rep it is within the first day that whatever you said is repped if ever I think. I guess it isn't a big enough deal but it is a problem still

I believe you missed the veiled sarcasm.

Ironically, Good rep tends to be the result of a general trend of posting like a reasonable human being culmunating a few minutes after the rep-giver's already left their post (and requires a bit of backtracking); Bad rep tends to be the result of a single bad, dumb, or insensitive post.
Plus, you don't know which Post got the rep, only which Thread.
Plus, you could say something mean, get downrepped, delete the post, and repost the exact same thing.

It IS a bit silly. I'd like to see more made of the Rep function. I liked the HP/MP bars we used to have. We should run Rep through that hack. Then add a page where we can Forum Fight! RAR!

Crow 06-22-2007 07:26 PM

I know a forum with a pretty nice reputation system, and you actually need it there, but I wont explain that further. Not the right place for that here hehe. Though I will explain their system.
Normal users can only give positive reputation. Moderators can also give negative reputation, but only if the users did something that is against the rules. And if someone gives you a positive reputation, you actually see who gave it to you in all the cases.
