Level Editor's Map Generator...

When you press M on while on the level editor (while in the F4 menu) a small map is naturally generated. For the far future, couldn't we have it so that we can pick how big the end image should be? Sometimes it just turns out too small.

For example even possibly generate an image of a small overworld in full resolution? I know this last part is a bit crazy but it'd be neat.

Yeah. I never said it would be practical, but the largest size allowed would be what you see ingame.

Though, I think, even if the maps can be produced bigger, I don't know if bigmaps scale with the image, so that would have to be changed too.

It's not about bigmaps, it's just for the sake of having an image of my work but bigger. That way I wouldn't have to alt + 1 every level and paste it all in photoshop...

I like it. It'd be handy for "Dangit, this mountain range isn't meeting up in the middle...where'd I skip a tile?"

Meh, I was thinking more like if you want to show a 4 level town thats on a GMAP. Or maybe if you wanna photoshop or paint on a map for detailed plans.

Doubt this will ever happen but oh well. :(

DustyPorViva 06-16-2007 07:29 PM

Well could also have a screenshot shortcut that take sa picture of whatever gmap you're on.

Too big and too easy to steal levels then. :(

Good point, should probably be RC Only

Well I was honestly thinking Level Editor, not really online. But I still think it's a useful feature nontheless.

Shame this thread will just disappear like the rest though, Stefan doesn't really care about the level editor. :frown:

Tyhm 06-17-2007 07:10 PM

It's obsolete, doomed to be replaced with an online version. Valid, but only if the online version's Actually replaced it.

I hope not. That would force people to have to work on a server to figure out how to make levels...just like the whole GS2 bull****. That and you wouldn't even be able to call the levels your own...if it's online the moment you save it it's Graals. Long live offline editor? :O

There is already support for map generation by script. For the developer tools we plan to announce a few plans when the new things are released (soon).

I hate Secret Soon. I hate Secret Soon so much. So much I think I'll personify Mr. Soon just to hate him.
Secret Soon lives to prevent speculation: There's a Secret project coming out Soon, so don't worry about it.
He lives to prevent work: I could make a workaround for the cannon system, but Stefan's working on a Secret baloon project that will Soon make all my work meaningless.
He lives to destroy everything you've worked on: I start on Hubworld, but the Secret gets out that Soon there will be a gameworld that will make it obsolete.

I hate Secret Soon.

Mr. Soon is the reason for communism
"Soon things will go the right way"

Tyhm 06-18-2007 08:04 PM

You are correct, sir!

And the thing is, if Mr. Soon wasn't so Secret about everything, we could go about our business.
"I'm thinking of making a games server sometime this summer." "Okay, then I won't bother trying to make a hubworld."
"I'm intending to change the way subscriptions and trial accounts work in the following ways: _______" "Okay, then let's change this discussion from hypothetically revamping the current system of ghosts-that-can't-load-tiles to discussing and finetuning the new system"
