Grass Test

Making a tileset for Twinny. Need some thoughts. Yes, I realize that it is somewhat repetitive. It's a 3-by-1 chunk of tiles. In the end I'm going to do a 3 x 3. This is just where I've gotten to SO FAR.

Keep in mind, there's the rest of the grass to add plus detail tiles and such.

Hmm, as it is, I honestly think you could achieve the same in one single tile. If you're going to branch out and do multiple tiles, you should try to make the best of them and have the tiles vastly different than the next. Hmm, I think it could do well with a darker shaded pixels dotted in between the blades of grass to give a bit of depth.

Yeah, I don't know about the darker pixels. That'll make 5 colors and I like the depth as is sorta. Maybe make the background color darker. Or dot it with some dirt colors as if you could see a bit of the ground peeking through.

Thanks for the input Dusty.

Well the dirt color sounds good. Usually when I'm working on an overall tileset, I'll grab colors from other tiles and use them, brown would work just fine as a darker shade for this, as long as it's not too pronounced or the saturation isn't too different.

Tho, I'm not quite sure how to texture dirt. I was still contemplating that.

A 3 x 3 tile chunk. In 3 x 3 form. So theres. 81 tiles there. There's a few things that make the repetition obvious. Quick fixes. Other then that it's good.

There's a horizontal line of dark pixels going through the tiles at the bottom right of the 3x3. And above that a little chunk of light pixels.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. :P
