Private Messages [Client]

Correct me if I am wrong, but why is it that certain words are being censored?
I just said the word "******" on Era, yet I was presented with a nice message "Staff have been informed".
Now, don't get me wrong but I do think that some kind of censor is mandatory. However, I wouldn't say that having a popup is necessary!

If a person is to be offended by a private message, we have the ignore button for a purpose. If another person is to be offended by another person than shouldn't the ignore button be placed? If harassment is to be carried on whilst in game, that's when an admin should monitor what's going on.

Well, that's how I see it...

Well the word filter is configured by the server staff, so contact the Era staff if you think it should be changed.

stefan thanks for answering my pm :)!

If someone says something they arnt suppose to say and the staff and immediately informed then I don't see the problem. And just because they are informed does not mean you are going to be jailled/banned. Just means they know.

Could be just to clear up cases where player's report racism/harassment via PM and it's difficult to tell who is telling the truth. If they are just banning based on that system though good luck to them because they won't have a server population left.

Why say that word in the first place.

Crono 06-07-2007 02:26 AM

PM's shouldnt be censored, they are called private for a reason

Well it gives more proof if someone is racially harassing someone. Or just harassing them with profanity.

Though it shouldnt be like...err...heres an example.
I PM the word "******" to someone. Its not offending in my case, but staff know that I used it. So they will probably think "He used that word, ban him!". But why, if its not offending in the current case? So if it detects a word thats forbidden, it should send the whole message to the staff.

I agree, Staff should not be notified if you say offensive words in pm's the main reason is because it's a Private Message and most of the time it's just friends having a joke with each other, I have a friend who wentever i login to the client he says "Yo ******" for a joke and it's not going to offending me.

How do you know it doesn't.

Who really gives a ****, seriously? If someone pms you harassing you, you ignore them, send a log to a GP, and the GP should warn the person. If they continue, they should be punished. If the GP does nothing, go to globals.

It's really as simple as that. Remember how easily I got YOU jailed on UN?
