Can we still use .gif files?

Elk 05-22-2007 07:39 AM

of course, why not?

Crono 05-22-2007 02:46 PM

Yes. As a matter of fact I don't bother with .pngs because if I want to do transperancies I only know how to do it with .gifs. And when I do .gifs I'm too lazy to drag it to the gif2mng thingy...

JkWhoSaysNi 05-22-2007 03:24 PM

Gifs don't support Alpha transparency though... and gifs are limited to 8 bit.

PNGs are better.

Well I think because a few years back there was a big drama about Graal not being able to use gif's anymore because of copyright issues, and then for a bit all the servers had to turn their gif's into png's, and then the rule was dropped when the copyright expired.

X_x I hate using stupid gifs they dont show as much color so you cant add as much detail.......I really fan color fading on my stuff =o

What the hell is alpha transparency?

and i like .pngs too but not for graal stuff because none of mine work :P

DustyPorViva 05-29-2007 06:31 PM

Alpha transparency is when the transparency is actually in the file, such as if you use a 50% opacity brush in Photoshop, save it, and use it in Graal--it'll be 50% transparent.

Stephen 05-29-2007 07:02 PM

Alpha transparency is a additional 8-bit greyscale mode which represent the draw power (transparency) of a specific color.

DustyPorViva 05-29-2007 07:04 PM

Or that.

sizzle1989 05-29-2007 10:31 PM

it made my head hurt!! >_<

ff7chocoboknight 05-29-2007 11:17 PM

I upload *.GIFs all the time, though some servers don't allow *.GIFs.

Pimmeh 05-30-2007 08:45 AM

Errrr...could maybe anyone tell me how we set transparancy for .png's?
I use paint dot net
