The rock is kind short but whatever...think of this as my triumphant non-sword return.

Stephen 05-08-2007 06:37 AM

Quite nice, although it would certainly need a tileset to support it.

killerogue 05-08-2007 06:38 AM

It's rather nice, I suggest u remove that black line on the first part of the rock that juts up and extend the bottom part of it further.

Which part? You mean on the right part that's like a black line at a 90 degree angle?

Luda 05-08-2007 06:50 AM

Looks awesome

FaLLChiLD 05-08-2007 11:16 AM

Wow Zid, this rocks. (No pun intended)

Myomoto 05-08-2007 12:49 PM

Naice.

MrAnonymous_P2P 05-08-2007 02:13 PM

I love the rock, but I can't say I like the grass.

DustyPorViva 05-08-2007 04:49 PM

Nice, though the grass is really, really dark. And the contrast between the green and the gray is too subtle, I honestly through that the lightest shade of gray on the rock was moss and grass growing over the rock.

I thought the white background didnt help it, it would defernately look good in a tileset :D

Nice work dude

smirt362 05-08-2007 07:39 PM

Instead of using pure black, lighten that part up a bit and it would look awesome :o

maximus_asinus 05-08-2007 08:30 PM

Reminds me of something you'd see in the older Command and Conquer games for some reason. Looks nice.

Ya, pure black/white=bad. Try to avoid it.

The grass is basically a place holder, I probably should have spent more time on it however...

Eagle 05-09-2007 04:39 AM

Would look good as a graphic on terrain. Like kingdoms or something.

Still not happy with the grass...probably should spend some more time on it sometime, although the focus isn't on the grass in the blank spaces I wanted to fill it in a bit, the grass around the dirt and the rock are how I want them.

MrAnonymous_P2P 05-15-2007 12:02 AM

Looks ok, unless I'm not looking at it correctly I'm not seeing much shading. That could just be my angle though

DustyPorViva 05-15-2007 01:46 AM

Grass/dirt is way too dark. You really need to lighten things up a bit.

I tried to make some grass to fill in real quick but soon it just became a game of "How many colors can you fit in one place which I commonly do. (Overdo)

Rapidwolve 05-15-2007 03:28 AM

Very nice

Stephen 05-15-2007 03:39 AM

Your original is quite nice, imo. I have a sort of classical opinion on these things, though.

meow

DustyPorViva 05-15-2007 07:58 PM

Better... but I think the blades of grass are a bit too thick.

Depends on what you're basing this statement. The area you live in tends to dictate the type of grass you have. For example, grass in the northeastern United States is much thinner comparably than that offered in places like Florida, where the higher quality grasses tend to be so thick that footprints are not left when walking on them.

kia345 05-16-2007 12:54 AM

It's too green to be Florida

Zideruic 05-16-2007 01:07 AM

The one on the right is the original one that I posted with the dirt tile.

It's a florida-great plains hybrid rofl...

lol, my comment wasn't intended to discuss color, only thickness. I think in the right setting, either could be fine for the most part.

DustyPorViva 05-16-2007 01:44 AM

It's too thick in proportion of what would be the average sized sprite. I mean... sure, it COULD be possible, but that doesn't always mean it looks best in pixel art.

Zideruic 05-16-2007 02:26 AM

Yeah I actually know what you mean, it looks like enormous leaves/blades that are folded over.

ff7chocoboknight 05-16-2007 05:38 AM

dat rock pwnz da poo outa me

Infernix 05-16-2007 11:08 PM

I think the rock looks great, but everything else doesnt look to good. Though it has improved.

Zideruic 05-16-2007 11:26 PM

Yeah the grass is pretty much crap now. If i had continued the original pattern it may have been effective, and I'm not sure about the dirt because people have had mixed feelings about it.
