NExt Major Update!

Just a little thought, you should have a web page thats has a list of future improvement and when they are expected. If this already existed please direct me in the correct direction. :D

...
Simple but brilliant :O!

lol..."when they are expected", you're out of luck getting an accurate estimate

Such negativity

Tyhm 03-25-2007 07:22 PM

"Planned implementation in version 4.1.5" would be a start.

More work for Stefan though.

Well, possibly less if it means he has to deal with us complaining here less. ;-)

Well think about it, how often have they met vague deadlines?

In the newsletter it said...

Quote:

In the beginning of January, the Graal team will release Games World!
Uh right. And then we have...

Quote:

Graal3d dungeon will be released in February 2007, first to 300 winners of the first Graal lottery, then to GOLD and VIP
Heh.

I had also PMed Stefan asking when the Games would come out again, he said in a few weeks. This was a month ago I think.

I'm not saying that CJ should rush their projects, but instead I think they should atleast try to give more realistic estimates for when their stuff is going to be released. Until then you can't really expect accurate estimates of release dates. :frown:

Angel_Light 03-25-2007 07:27 PM

Exactly my thought Tyhm, I also don't mean an exact date but more like date of something like "Around March 30th and April 3rd." And if they don't really know just put "Coming Soon..." I would like to see at least what is in planning.

Tyhm 03-25-2007 07:34 PM

Meh. I'd prefer Next Version and maybe a Progress %, for how far along Stefan feels it really is. Estimated dates of completion have long been a black mark on Graal's record, you know that...

Angel_Light 03-25-2007 07:36 PM

yeah he could use GuiProgressCtrl, lol

I wonder how well that would work on a "web page".

Maybe they could create some plug-in that can display GS2. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!! ^-^

Or maybe use an image?

zokemon 03-25-2007 10:50 PM

I really doubt Stefan "plans" for his Graal releases...he just adds the features that he deems necessary at the time :o
Like any other Graalian! ^_^

We are working on a few things which will change Graal a lot, but explaining everything in detail would be too much work and probably some people would complain that the things are not the same as announced or not at the exact date. Will be a surprise :D

So in other words, you know what the updates are but don't know when there going to be ready?

When he appends them to the next version he does but ofcourse he wouldn't know when such version would be ready.

Well at least hes not getting our hopes up now with far fetched estimated release dates :).

Or in other words, let him work and don't confront him with things PWA can handle, too. So he will be done faster ;)

Dude I like surprises, only thing I hope for you is that they really change Graal a lot.

Get him some more coders, dont let him work alone on one, big project *looks to unixmad* :noob:

Tyhm 03-27-2007 02:52 AM

Meh. We've always had updates hinted at like this. "Don't worry, there's something big coming that will fix all that." "There's a secret New project World going to make all your Classic problems irrelevant." Makes we ignorant developers sweat when people start hinting that all our work might be for naught on account of a secret project that'll come out any day now. Makes us want to hang up our tools and go elsewhere. That's not good for Graal...

well don't give us release dates I just want to know whats in production. It shouldn't take long to make a list.

I don't really understand you. We are trying to make it so that we get more people to Graal, it's not about replacing servers or whatever.

Tyhm 03-31-2007 08:42 PM

Specific example 1: Hubworld.
Should I bother? Is it just going to be made irrelevant by the possible release of Gameworld? Is there going to be a Gameworld to make Hubworld irrelevant? Can I help out with Gameworld so it can be both?
Specific (and historical!) example 2: NW
What's the secret project Kyle and Lycia and Antago and Vangel are working on? Will it seriously result in the outright deletion-and-replacement of Classic as Antago says, or will it just be so awesome nobody will want to play Classic anymore? How much longer does Classic have to live? If Classic's only going to exist for another couple of weeks, can I make this script portable so it will at least see the light of day on NW? Why are the developers barred from answering any of these questions? Why are they so set on refusing to use anything developed on Classic at all?
Hypothetical General Example 3: Script Function Lambda
I'm trying to get Graal to mirror images. Can it be done? No? Will there be a function to do that someday? Probably not? Okay, well what if I make a gani, name it math.gani, feed it an image as param1, then teach the gani to slice the image into (width#) 1-pixel wide strips, then have a for-loop reassemble it backwards?
Oh, after all that work Stefan came out with gani.rotate()? Zut alors, if I'd known that I could have worked on something else for the last month.

That's what I mean. Not telling you how to do your job, just commenting that since none of us have access to chat with you about new releases on Kingdoms Debug and nobody there's willing/allowed to discuss what's about to be released, we live in constant fear of the next dramatic revelation destroying/making irrelevant/making unnecessary our work.

I don't really understand you. You choose to post something trivial like this rather than taking time to comment on good suggestions in this same forum. Like that one that I put quite a bit of thought into. We are trying to help improve Graal so that we get more people to it, it's not about getting defensive or whatever.

Angel_Light 04-01-2007 03:57 AM

haha, get a Graal TV commercial, that be awesome XD Anyways, can't you like "hire" or recruit some people to make at least a log of what your working on, or better yet, in a simple .txt file just write down what you did. Just like in the NewFeatures200# you had a list of bugs/update couldnt just add stuff to be included in next update, :/
