My own actual level

Ya, I did my own level this time, nothing from LttP.
Anyways, I can't think of the last time I actually made a level... hell I don't think I ever have. So tell me any mistakes I made.

... Oh yeah, making dirt trails is the most time consuming thing... bleh.

Not bad as far as the cliffwork is concerned, but I don't like the half-sized cliff on the top left. Your paths are good but a bit basic, you could try and mix them up and make them look a bit more rough if you wanted. The biggest problem I see is your detail - I think you need to clump things far more and add some more grass tiles.

Otherwise it's a great start, if I were rating it I'd give it a solid 7/10 if you rarely (or never) make levels.

Not bad, I like it. I'd probably give it 8/10.

the "graal" perspective is kinda weird using back cliff tiles with such high cliffs. I don't really like the small trees only cause they dont match the tileset at all X_x. Um...I hate dancing yellow flowers, but thats just me lol. Could possibly add more grassing detail such as some rocks or move some of the blades of grass around to fill some of the open areas. Maybe some more bushes and other details? I like the half step cliff to the left :)

The small trees are cool. I also like the detail, there are only some small things I dont like. What I really dont like are your cliffs :/

maximus_asinus 03-21-2007 05:39 PM

Tile errors in the cliffs, a common mistake. I don't much like the design of the northern cliffs either.

Crono 03-21-2007 09:44 PM

Detail is a bit bland, mountains a bit too straight, road is too straight sometimes, but overall it's ok. :)

MysticX2X 03-21-2007 10:07 PM

Paths could be a lot better. And grass needs more detail. Mountain is a bit dull though, its decent i suppose.

PrinceDark 03-21-2007 10:17 PM

It isn't too complex, but not too simple either. I like it.:D

What's wrong with the paths?

Infernix 03-22-2007 12:17 AM

Well the paths are missing a corner tile for the edges in a few spots lol. Im not much for the lower right moutains(how they are placed). Ahh and thats all I feel like saying.

DustyPorViva 03-22-2007 02:13 AM

I left the corners out of some because it tiled better without them, because the corner tiles weren't fit right for some of the transitions.

Infernix 03-22-2007 03:31 AM

or you just were using the wrong ones.

DustyPorViva 03-22-2007 04:04 AM

Just because I didn't use the corners on them doesn't mean they look bad. I thought they shaped off pretty well without the corners. Is it wrong just because it's "say-so" if it still looks fine? I mean no one else mentioned them.

Infernix 03-22-2007 04:15 AM

ok Ima just stop because I see someone going e-angry now because I pointed out a tile error.

DustyPorViva 03-22-2007 04:31 AM

Who's getting angry? I'm just saying you said they are tile errors, maybe in a technical sense, but does it look bad? I think maybe you're overdramatizing what I said just to try to make me look like I'm taking it too seriously.

Lord Sephiroth 03-22-2007 09:14 AM

I'm not a fan of how straight the cliffs are and the paths are weak. I don't really like the small trees because like someone said they really don't fit in right. Detail works kind of well with this level style I guess.

A nice sturdy 5.79/10
