Arca (AKA Terestria)

3 Attachment(s)
Arca is all about magical discovery, and currently we are aiming for somewhere around 900 spells. To get these spells you will have to experiment by combining two runes. The first rune will be referred to as the "school," and will determine what kind of spell it is. The second rune determines the element. After combining these runes you will get a brand new spell. You can see the result in the first picture (kinda ugly at the moment, working on that).

Arca will also have a train system where you can ride a train across the overworld. Below are two pictures of the train station we are working on.

We also hope to implement player houses, player built towns, crafting, and a Nation/Nation Wars system...we haven't really talked about those yet but more information will come later.

In Arca you will level up by defeating monsters. There will also only be two main stats, Str & Int. Str will determine how much damage you can do with a weapon, your health, and your health regeneration. Int will determine your magic damage, your MP, and your MP regeneration. You will be able to get armor to better protect yourself, give boosts to certain stats, and protect you from certain elements. Currently we are planning to have a Helm, Chest, Boots, Weapon, Shield, and an Accessory slot.

That's all for now, we will keep you updated as we go along.

We're working on it :[

I like the inside level tiles. Keep it going or die!

A sneak peek of the map before generation. It's currently being worked on, with the cliffs being my present area of attention.

Infernix 03-19-2007 12:20 PM

Like I said before, the train looks wierd. and Now even in gameplay it looks worse. It needs some different colors to set apart from the train tricks and the front the train needs to look like a effing train =/.

Your lating skills are kinda bleh and you didn't even do anything yet wtf. And the gui god, it just doesn't look as good as the other 30 guis youve made in the past.

Now its early in the morning+I kinda got upset when I saw it cause Tom could do better. So thats why Im so grouchy and mean about it...=(

o and find a new OW shape, it reminds me of VS.

PrinceDark 03-19-2007 01:15 PM

The colors are horrible. So NES-ish.

From what I understand, it's a carriage rather than the actual complete train. I've mentioned the lack of detail before and I've been told it's still in-progress. Patience :)

Compare the two overworlds and they're as alike as two similar-sized islands often are...

Which is to say, not really that similar.

I agree there, they look good but are far from having the polish and clarity they deserve!

SaijinGohan 03-19-2007 03:49 PM

I really like the idea of the server and their simplistic approach - ie the trains, rune combinations. However, your choice of a monochromatic color scale in brown is ugly.

DustyPorViva 03-19-2007 04:41 PM

Too much brown everywhere, need to break up the color monotony.

warp2ukew 03-19-2007 05:12 PM

The brown is fine as long as you make other colored tiles to go with it.

Tom 03-19-2007 05:36 PM

Hopefully when i add actual objects to the levels it shouldnt be all brown. And im still editing the tiles so some looks total crap. But dont hesitate to crit, it helps improve.

As for the GUI's ive decided to go with classic approach with them, but still keeping the rpg gameplay.

+ I think i went overboard with the browns lol.

Sum41Freeeeek 03-19-2007 05:56 PM

True. You see all brown then spots of blue :[

lol that blue stuff was my first attempt to not use just only brown :P

Sage_Shadowbane 03-19-2007 08:06 PM

Tom.. Stop using those same brown shades before I hurt you. Otherwise it looks nice, keep it up. Btw you know you have competition with me, so you better work harder. >_<

Oh dear jesus it burns.

Btw Sage i only use the same browns because they are from the graal tileset, and i figured if i use the same pallete it would still look graalish >.>

One of the more promising servers in the past few months, for sure. Good luck with it.

You do realize Tom is doing this right?

Rapidwolve 03-20-2007 12:57 AM

I am working on the mainsite right now, the scripting is going good so far but the designing is blehh. I need some good graphics artists and web designers to help me with this.

Are you talking about the website or the server? 0_o

Rapidwolve 03-20-2007 02:47 AM

The site, sorry.

He has stuck with it this far, to be fair ;)

Smirt and Rapid are helping too :D. Smirt usually sticks with things (see: Maloria), and Rapid is a good developer who just gave up on Oakdale because he had no help. I can see this pw going far if they all stay active.

Tom 06-03-2007 09:15 PM

Arca took a break from development and is now back with a even stronger team, and hopefully everyone from the original.

Same content, same designs but no more breaks.

A member of the team wanted me to spoke this, and i honestly dont want any smart ass replies that i usually get, yea my reputation is shot, i dont need to be reminded.

And honestly i couldnt care less if people " believe" in me, hope to have a few good quests and a town up in the coming week.

ZING!

Thrashsoul3 06-03-2007 09:43 PM

I don't think I will ever be able to say "I see this server going far" again after so many failed times. (Not your development team particularly ) Anyways, I don't get how your strength determines your hitpoints, you don't have to be strong to be healthy, most people who work out too much aren't really that healthy :p

killerogue 06-03-2007 09:47 PM

The fact that he's stuck with it and not hopped to another project should count for something here. :(

Infernix 06-04-2007 12:42 AM

Tom working on a server, lol. Atleast we get to see his awsome gfx.

Luda 06-04-2007 04:48 AM

Goodluck Tom.

killerogue 06-09-2007 09:51 PM

At the moment, Arca is currently looking for a gani artist.
