mmmmkay's latest

I'm not really posting for him, he sent me a screenshot of what he was working on on AIM and i thought it was really good...so I posted it here with his permission.
I really like the waterfall in the middle. Haven't seen anyone do something like that. Now I know why they voted him the best LAT back in I think it was 2004. To note again, mmmmkay made this not me. I just thought the level was awesome. |
I really like that lil waterfall bit, godly as godlynness?
|
I like it :D Don't like the path though =[
|
Its good, I spot a few tile errors in the cliffs. I also think the level is quite crowded, over half the level cannot be traversed by foot.
|
Hey hey birdbirds vines I do believe... long time since I seen them :P
|
Wow!
|
Some nice particle effects would work wonders on that level.
|
Now...that, my friends. Is a good level.
|
Are those trees at top left what I think they are?! Cheat! >:O!

Seems pretty good, but I don't like the style.
|
Pretty okay level. Waterfall has bad tile errors though. It looks to be going into a good direction with some fix ups here and there. :D
Id give it a 6/10. |
I like it...except for those path tiles.
|
I miss Mmmmmkay, we worked on faheria together :(
|
Faheria is where I first really saw mmmmkays levels, and I was in love. He really did start a new level of leveling with those.
Love that level, granted some errors which arn't really fixable, and that little house down the bottem, 8/10. The cliff and waterfall area .. <3 |
That is a gorgeous level, but it seems a bit.. naturally impossible? There are three large waterfalls pouring into one small area. Unless that's a very deep cavernous lake and water is constantly pouring down into the earth, it would create a lake or river. Again, as far as nature is concerned, the larger waterfall would have to have a consistently larger source, yet the river it's coming from seems to be the smallest of all.
As far as the general look of the level, I adore it. Please don't think that I'm trying to be rude, I just think that when following the rules of nature, it's a bit easier to make something look beautiful because it just looks 'right,' if you know what I mean. I look at that and see a beautiful level, but then I wonder, where's all that water going? GOOD JOB THOUGH, I COULD DEFINITELY NOT DO BETTER :D |
I agree with Door. The level looks nice but it doesn't seem well thought out as far as the waterfall source/destination and also the placement of objects making it nearly impossible to actually walk around in the level very much.

SPEAK FOR YOURSELF...o wait ignore that. That level is good |
im 100% sure mmmmkay made it as a show level rather than a practical one boys and girls
i just thought the waterfalls looked really well done (specially the middle one). |

People like this? The idea is great sure, but it's not pulled off wonderfully at all overall. There are bits of it that're great but I think the cliffwork needs some serious work, the water needs to have consistency in its layout (the waterfall on the left for example, with the cliffs suddenly diving inwards doesn't look at all convincing to me - bad attempt at fixing bad tiles). The detail, too is plain to my tastes. As always the graveyard tiles are terrible so I wouldn't have even considered using them.
Basically the idea and theme is great but the execution looks like a bad jumble of attempts at creativity. Probably just because I prefer a predominantly simple Classic style... |

Make a level better then him. Thats all. You seem to think everything goes together perfect, especially cliffs. They don't, and if you make them, you get too many restrictions of hight, length, and direction.

aesthetics.

Saying that it's okay to have erroneous cliffs because doing otherwise would be restrictive is less than smart because it's still an error. There are better ways to make cliffs fit and if they're more limiting it's too bad unless you don't mind tile errors. I suppose it's just funny that people are willing to ignore one person's tile errors yet when a well-known tiler shows up with a few it's suddenly no big deal. |
