Tile Layers

I know it's been asked before and been talked on many times. In the next Editor I'd hope that there will be support for Layers and Transparent Tiles. When I say layers I mean like levels in a building you can walk up a floor and still see people below you and walk over them. There is a probably a way to script it, but it is just more convient to for it to be in the editor. Many other rpg maker have this feature which helps with level detailing much easier. also is there any set date on when the next Editor is coming out???

I've heard that tile layers do exist, but not many know how to use them :o

Sadly, you can't display tile layers ontop of anything other then other tiles. And they are still bugged too since they don't always load correctly.

As I said I believe there is a scripted way to do it but I want it as a feature in the next editor. like you can have 4 or infinite layers. like have 4 buttons each switches to a different layer

I'm still waiting for floating-point layers. For when you want something to display Very Slightly Above the rest of Image Layer 0...

This would be nice.

You can change the x,y of tile layers you know...
Just change the y and it will appear to be floating above. Since tile layers can't be displayed over other objects, it wouldn't make a difference to not have a Z variable.

the z variable in graal is quite useless in my opinion.

That's not very useful. Try and draw a donut using two seperate circle images. Easy, you put the "hole" in the middle of the "Donut". Now try and make it so the player can walk over these Donut tiles. Much harder. Now try and make it so the donut tiles slide along the floor randomly. That's the trouble.

I could make a paralax system if we had floating-point layers - "Through this window, this image moves over this image on layer 0"

Well, yeah, but I mean those that don't use tilesets with a type of 5. I can really only think of two major servers off the top of my head that do use type 5. GK and Thamhic.

I should have been more specific. I was talking more along the lines of the projectiles. I guess servers like Zone and Zodiac also have similar effects.

Anyways, to stay on topic... I'd love to see floating-point layers too :).
