Totem pole :O
Still have to edit most of the black lines out which I have partially done. C&C? |
It's nice. Just on the top shade of the top of the totem pole, you can see the dithering really easily. Perhaps you could lower the difference between the two colors?
Either way, besides that, I really like it. ;) |
Yeah, I was thinking that too. I'll probably sort that when I edit the rest of the black lines out.
|
It's a nice start...can't wait to see the rest of the totems.
|
I like the style.

Got rid of black lines and I added some AA to the bottom, also tried to sort out the more than obvious dithering on the top.
*Note: Very simple AA --Along the bottom. xD* |
It's getting better. The black lines did give it some definition, and you lost the definition upon the removal of them. I am definitely not suggesting to put them back, however, you need to retain that definition somehow by adding an element.
Also, the dithering on the top is much better, but now the totem pole likes like a giant spotted beast. XD Overall, the second version is better, but it lost something in the transition. |
Hmm, maybe if I was to make the lines where the black still remained a tad darker?

Yes that would be a possible way to solve it, or perhaps not. Try it out.
I posted an image with two circles. In the black circle, you can see a defined outline. However, in the red circle, there is no outline. Perhaps the issue is with continuity, or perhaps it has to do with no defined outline. I am not completely sure. Just fool around and see what looks better. |

Hmm did some AA on the top and darkened those lines. Any improvement?
|
Yeah, it's getting better. But still, I think the border on the top and the bottom needs to slightly more match the border on the left and the right.
|
Well, I don't want to bring the darker shadow around the top of the image as it will make it look corny. Wheras if I bring the lighter colour around the front, it looses the definition. I'm stuck xD
|
Looking really good!
|
Maybe give it some wings or somthing sticking out?

Why didn't you do stuff like this for me on UN? :[ |

Made a 2nd peice.
I don't think this one is as nice for some reason, although it may complement it if I make the top peice right. |

Looked a lot better with black lines, get it a better outline of some sort.
|
Oi, Kirble. Add more colors inbetween the dithering on the top. This image is a bit to big to have less colors on the top dithering. T_T
|
It looks realy good but I was expecting some wierd bird thing and wierd faces that look like thier trying to eat something. That was to only thing that dissapointer me
|
Shall do, KR.
Oh, and Colin, I just decided on some random face with the nose in the style of african art...I think. Dunno why xD Must've thought it would look cool. |

I think it's needing the dark outline.
Yours is going to look kinda messed up on a darker background... I think your lineart for the outside edges was mostly spot on... Just a small bit of tweaking in the curves at the top and bottom middle area would fix it. So I outlined it for you to show you an example. |
Thanks Konidias, I see what you mean about the darker outline, would make it look alot better on either background. Thanks. I'll try and do a little more when I have some free time. :)
|
Kirble i'm rather impressed. It's looking really top notch :)
|
Hehe, thanks xD
Just need an amazing top peice to really finish it off. ^^ |
