turn based server?
would it be possible to make a turn based strategy server for graal. Some games for example would be older shining force games, vandal hearts, and tactics ogre.
Would be cool to build up an army and battle friends in a chess style RPG. could be kinda cool. also make a world map with quests and vast things to do. |
I have a whole lot of complete Turn based code and stuff for a server based on the engine final fantasy made famous.
If you mean something like that then yes its possible, and its also really fun. Just didnt have the finances and the help to continue the project, stopped last year just before i was ready to test it with some public. |

This would make me at least check out Graal again :p

Turn based strategy! That would be amazing.
Of course I'd also like to see a RTS to graal, but that is high hopes. |
I'm working on implementing a turn based system into dual ortus. Zenkou is doing this as well.
|
I would definately play again if a "GOOD" server was made turn-based style.
|
That'd be cool. I had a start made years ago in New Races, with the Plantman thread...
I think it'd be even better if, instead of having Just One RTS/Turnbased Server and hoping the owner agrees with all of us about how it should be run, there should be a template server distributed - kinda like how once we all had the Clientside Classic tools, and we used default movement and weapons, we'd all get Default RTS/Turnbased scripts - and we can all make our own RTS/Turnbased Worlds. There's just so much you can do: Modern, Past, Future, The various scales: Space colonization, Global management, Country vs Country, City building, Sim Houses... |
Someone please make one :(
AND STICK TO IT! |
I've always wanted to make a Final Fantasy Tactics sort of server. But..I have too many ideas and not enough time.

If I cant find the money and time to finish the project I suppose I could release them when I fix them up a little bit (So they are a bit more user friendly). Let someone else take the reigns and finish up what we started. It all looked and worked pretty good. Just bad timing on my part. |
I'm interested in the engine but I don't think I'd be developing a RTS-based server.....yet..
|
I'd produce one, but I doubt I'd make it PvP - many people could just dissconnect from a battle; what would happen next?

in my opinion there needs to be a well thought out overworld...and not just like one
i really loved chrono trigger :P |
I like this idea, a turn based server would be great. If it was made properly i'm sure it would be a success, also it would give everyone an equal chance to become good unlike other players where its sometimes chance and you play 24/7 so you are better sort of server :o
|
When I think of turn based: i think of Tactics Ogre but Chrono Trigger was awesome. I'd definitely play at the server ^^.
|
Zenkou has a turn based system, or so I've seen from pictures.

I was searching through the web and there is a website where people are making there own turn based strategy games. based off of shining force series. (Forum PM me for link) I posted a link to graalonline.com on their forums, and recommended that someone should start a tbs system server. nobody really replied though.
they got some pretty cool looking games coming out. (probably not for a few years though.) I get to be a beta tester in one of the 3d TBS games currently being worked on. |
Make it like Final Fantasy? Walking around, challenged by random monsters (different levels in each area), brings you to a screen where you battle turn by turn....
Vandel Hearts or whatever, squares, different attacks you can choose from affect different areas of the "board"... or pokeman style, have creatures or even a party maybe? idk good idea tho |

It'd have to have Some degree of Active Time Battle...otherwise yeah, I'll just idle and pretend to be deciding between Battle and Magic and Item...I mean, play Mario Party with a jerk sometimes, there's a reason the L button is Taunt.
