What's with all the guests???

I'm like the only member on the forum right now and we have like 50 guests. Why don't you guys upgrade your accounts once so you can get access to the forums? There's always like 50 guests just reading all over the forums. Don't you guys want to post??? :p

Some have a hard time recovering their passwords, but unixmad wants to keep the uh "secret" about classic accounts just that. :x

It's just odd to be the only member on and have 50 guests. It's one thing if there's like 100 members on the forum and 50 guests... then it at least seems balanced.

Considering how inactive some of these forums are getting, you'd think they'd notice that they have so many guests that could be posting and making this place more lively. :p

These forums are inactive for a reason. I'm not going to go further on this (on my own anyway) but lets just say at this rate its just going to stay the way it is. Even with more posters, the forums won't become more lively. :[

Maybe we scare them all off :[

Most of them have probably gotten here from Google, they are not players.

Not to mention some of them are Google.

Moderators scare them away :)

(I know at least one of those was someone daring to ask if Google counted as a Guest when they're spidering the forums)
I don't know if it does or not...I know search engines used to have a footprint, but I'm guessing the forum code's been updated to ignore Google Itself.
Which just means there are more people viewing the forums (from school, on someone else's computer, etc) than are logging in to respond. In a sense that's a good thing - less password theft from "That wasn't me! My former friend across the street still had my password from when I used his computer back when we were still talking to each other!", but on the other hand a lot of conversations suffer from Lack Of Interest.

And some from being shoved into Future Improvements, because godforbid anything novel should be considered Of General Interest.

Yes, every search engine that uses crawlers, bots, etc., are showing up as guests on the forums. Mind you, that there are probably only about 5 max at any given time.

Maybe they don't like how the forums are being run? They don't feel its worth upgrading to get access? Who knows, ask them yourself.

QUIT MOLESTING MY POSTS, SAM.

Seems kind of mean to not allow everyone to be posting at least somewhere on these forums? Yeah yeah, the non-upgrade players would post nothing but bs and spam and flame everyone... (according to the mods anyway)... I don't think that would be the case, it would give the mods some real work to do if it came to that. Instead of looking for threads to close, posts to delete and edit, and so forth.

you do realize that classic accounts can post? i'm very happy unixmad did that, but asking for more is just too much.

zell12 01-20-2007 02:23 AM

Uh, yeah, that's how I'm posting now?

The whole point of this thread is pointing out that there is MORE GUESTS then members on the forums.
