Brigid question

Hey, how are you supposed to actually start with Brigid as a god. You can start with any other god except brigid. There is no possilbe way to actually get exp from following brigid when you start, this should perhaps be fixed??

Being forbidden to use all cause wounds and weapons. Interesting challenge if you ask me.

Levelling wisdom is tough overall. It'd be nice if you got experience for successfully healing someone, or creating food or something. It just doesn't make sense for a mainly support class like a priest to still have to earn ranks in its skills by killing monsters. (Even with the cause wounds skills, the amount of damage vs grace used is ridiculously out of proportion when compared to a sorcerer using large bullet. ...do not take this as an excuse to further nerf sorcerers...)

And to answer your question, Brigid can use holy word to kill skeletons. Holy Word is a Lv 1 prayer as far as I know. Granted, it's not a good prayer, since it only hurts skeletons (and possibly reapers?), but it's something at least.

Assuming you can actually find and get ahold of holy word. Perhaps something like thorns to cast onto yourself like armour would be better then nothing. Atleast then it would be a defensive reason and not offensive. Without weapons or cause wound of any type, it would be most difficult to even start with brigid, considering the fact that their are other monsters near the skeletons to start off with, and you'd have to be about level 5 to take them on with either physical or magic really. You could do so if you had magic bullet, but not all priests are lucky enough to get magic powers to start with. And the people just do not help others enough to have the logical excuse of asking someone else for a talisman.

I suppose holy word would work, if I had it, just getting to a level to use Avatar (IF I can find it) is going to be another story.

Brigid is more of a higher-end goddess for mages and priests. Her relics, when fully enchanted, add a very nice amount of armor and resistances, and her spells in combat are nearly unrivaled. Brigid is by no means a god you should start with, considering your only way to level until you get avatar is to use holy word and holy orb.

Yes I agree, but this needs to be changed. You lose too much just switching to brigid. By the time you get to go to brigid, its no longer worth the effort. The whole point of this is actually to get something better to atleast start with, a level 1 attack prayer of sometype would be more then nice. Even if it only did a total of 5 damage to start with.

There's really not a point to switching to Brigid at low level though. Even if you have a basic spell, you won't be able to reap the benefits of any of the spells or armor until much later in time.

Yes, but the point of my original question was, how you could start if you did go with brigid to begin with. Not how to be Brigid now with a previous level to start with. Even Balor gives you, or atleast was supposed to give a flaming aura to level 1's.

Draenin 01-12-2007 12:37 PM

And I just answered you. With Holy Word or Holy Orb.

Well I didn't have them on debug, so it was an issue...

Draenin 01-12-2007 01:14 PM

Because it's really difficult to aquire spells on debug.

ViperZakuto 01-12-2007 02:07 PM

can't you say /dm boss and have all the spells?

Normally yes, but I restarted my character on debug so I could see what it would be like without using any "powers" to acquire spells/prayers. Go ahead and see for yourself, if you had a desire to start with brigid, its nearly impossible.
