running ubuntu after a while of reverting to xp, ran into a licensing error i suppose, any advice please?

You are right, you need to type "graalexe" on the command line, not sure why typing "graal" is not working anymore, but I will check it.
I don't know exactly why it's crashing for you though. Are "glxinfo" and "glxgears" working fine?

glxgears does popup a 3d image of gears though, lol... any advice?

updated gfx drivers, now graal runs with graalexe

how do i disable light effects etc in linux graal? its not in the F1 options like it is for win

To disable lights, weather and such I went and installed graal on a win machine and then did the settings that I wanted, then copied the cfg file to the linux box. I supose you could just hand edit it, but I don't think all the settings are already in the cfg file.
