Tomahawks

I am suggesting we make one dual-wielded weapon for the game. Tomahawks. These axes are fast, hand held, and deadly. We all know the damage they can inflict upon a human head, body, etc. I want to have some tomahawks to chop things down.

It will need a gfx, gani for movement(two weapons must move with hands), attack gani front(swing them both one after another), side(same), rear(360 degree spin).

It will need a new sound. When pulling it out, it should make the sound of a smaller object being drawn (like a dagger, though they dont have a sound. Maybe you can add this sound to daggers as well when done?) It also needs a new light swooshing sound.

I'd suggest they be made into items at the event coin shop. But make them around 5ec each, everyone should have a chance at having these.

The biggest problem would be a scripter on debug will need to be motivated to re-script the weapons so the other axe does damage plus the effects of its blessing (ie: leuceteus does lightning damage, ogma poisons).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The second idea for tomahawks is to have Throwing Tomahawks. These would not aim, you simply face in a direction and throw. The tomahawk hits something (building, tree, enemy) and falls to the ground and may be retrieved (after killing the enemy it hit, of course).

These should be craftable, and should have more expensive varients in alchemy ( lightning, poison, weaponmagic+1 +2 +3 +4, fire, cold, confusion).

These will require a new gani(throwing foreward) but nothing big.

These will be the perfect weapon for any berserkers out there, along with any tribal societies that need a melee weapon.

Maybe if you kill someone with a tomahawk they drop a "Human Scalp" ;)

On a more serious note, cool idea.

MasterNuke 12-11-2006 11:01 PM

Eh... we don't even have two-handed weapons yet.

SayianOozaru 12-11-2006 11:06 PM

then, this would be a start?

Tomahawks were usually used by native tribes and made of STONE.

So no, they don't usually inflict extreme amounts of damage upon the head.

Oh? Personally I would class a caved skull as "extreme" damage.

Believe it or not, in Vietnam tomahawks were sometimes issued to soldiers as melee weapons. And they were steel with composite grips. They could turn a soldier into pudding within a few seconds. Peter LaGana is the manufacturer now adays. We also see them often used in the new Iraq war.

I'm not insane, I study weapons and war. Death and carnage are always the byproducts. I study it because I'm still amazed that we are "horrified" yet support wars like "The war on terrorism" without cutting all trade to america(I'm american, but seriously, wtf).

Would you like to get hit with anything made of stone?

Usually people don't try to cave in skulls with axe-like weapons, I must admit.

I would imagine that, no matter how axe-like it is, it'll cave rather than cut if it's made of stone.

They didn't actualy use Tomahawks for scalping people, They used the Bowie Knife and it was the natives that we're being scapled.
However, the natives did slash open a dead persons chest to let there spirt fly to heaven. They done this because they honoured the warriors they fought with and though they deserve to go to heaven. But most people seen this as a barbaric thing.

If you think about it Tomahawk will not fit into the Medevil style on graal kingdom Tomahawk was used by the native indians and i dont remember beening told in a histery lesson that indians was in medevil times.

lordbosh 12-13-2006 01:28 AM

native americans existed in medieval times. Their cultures go back thousands of years.

MasterNuke 12-13-2006 01:50 AM

You could probably classify dual Tomahawks as a two-handed weapon... have them attack like any other weapon except the animation shows it swinging both tomahawks and the damage be dealt twice kind of like how the naginata's spin animation has two attacks in it.

To prevent a shield being equipped with it... I guess they could script a flag that could look like this "(no shield)"

But... if you're thinking that one weapon in one hand and another in the shield slot (off hand)... then we need to think of some dual-weilding mechanics.

The project making is the job of the manager of Graal Kingdoms. There are staff there, I know they could make this. But will they? I'd suggest working as a team, and set a deadline to get it made.

I am sure they will be able to figure out how to implement this, if not why are they debug staff?

Yea, they just crawled out of the land one day in the 1500's. :p

Assuming they're interested.

Draenin 12-13-2006 06:24 AM

I think it's a neat idea. It would give us another throwing weapon to work with.

alarid0 12-13-2006 09:35 AM

Would they have to be named "Tomahawks" though? :(
You cant ignore the point that cyan was trying to make. Everyone just picked at it on a technicality and tossed out the idea behind what he was saying...

Native American culture doesnt actually have a place in the GK setting. When I think of the GK armory, I dont think "tomahawk"

Maybe make it, but with a less indian theme? Just.. hand axes?

lordbosh 12-13-2006 11:49 AM

it could have been made in medieval times, but we werent worried about having awesome axes since we were researching gunpowder.

Graal Kingdoms doesn't actually have a time frame. There's go-karts on the middle island, for example.

Also, I can't seem to recall which period of time it was that they had MAGIC in. It's a fictional world with fictional ideas in it. I got this same kind of BS when I made my Cowboy hat - it's a hat, Christ. I'm sure the hat design is fairly old.

exactly, how many times do we have to say this. I never remember a flaming sword of any kind in any culture. or pretty much any of the armor in the game. This is a game not the real world.

These ideas seem great. someone should start working on both ideas right away.

Draenin 12-13-2006 07:22 PM

Don't argue about time periods in Kingdoms. You're bound to lose when it comes to that. The only exception would be if the time period you're mentioning is way out of place, like science fiction or modern stuff.
