Re-enable Members List

Seriously. =/

Crono 12-10-2006 11:19 PM

Yeah I wish they would too. :o

Chompy 12-10-2006 11:31 PM

5,193 members registered, that list would be long :)

But this would be nice tho

excaliber7388 12-10-2006 11:37 PM

yar

Googi 12-11-2006 12:19 AM

Supposedly it's disabled to "prevent spam".

Skyld 12-11-2006 12:22 AM

Why should it be reenabled? It is probably full of members that haven't used the forums for years.

People want to see their postcount rankings.

Anyone who wants to do that is stupid. Who cares where they are on the list, I think it's just a more of "the option is there, SO RE-ENABLE IT".

I'm sick of features being removed because immature kids can't be trusted.

Mykel 12-11-2006 01:05 AM

Sure, post-count is one thing. However, what about if you want to look for a member? You have to look for a post of theirs or search for a post they may have made. It's stupid. Spam is supposed to be moderated anyway, so I don't really see the issue.

I agree with this.

Is it really that hard to type a members name in the search box?

I am sure unixmad has good reason for it to be disabled. This isn't the first time a member has asked for it to be enabled. Obviously he doesn't want it to be for whatever reason.

Yeah the original excuse was because of people spamming to get top of the posters list.

That is really retarded when you can't even trust your paying customers to use a feature which was originally there.

Mods are here for a reason to control the spam, and they do that enough, so it's about time it go re-enabled, and I think your duty should be to pass this thread onto the admins around here.

I think you might be near the top.

I know my rank, I don't have that problem.

Mykel 12-11-2006 02:07 AM

Exactly. How much actual spam do you see on these forums? Maybe 10-15 posts a day? Maybe 1 topic a day. Most of the moderation is due to breaking rules that have nothing to do with spam.

I understand that Unixmad has his reasonings, but the least he can do is hear us out, don't you agree Moonie?

Yes. Sometimes you can't remember their exact account name, which is probably why you're searching for them in the first place. Most people are known better by their nicks than by their accounts. eg. Crono/Gerami ^_^

If one obviously does not remember the account name of a person why can't they simply look at a list?

CidNight1142 12-11-2006 03:21 AM

I have to say that it would be nice to have it back. It is a serious pain to find people when you don't know their names exactly. I think we can handle it. Most 'spam' that happens here is fairly mature stuff that is deemed spam for other reasons. I just don't see alot of poop and pee jokes being thrown around here. Honestly, this is the most mature forum I have ever been a part of, and I've never truly understood why we're so mistrusted.

konidias 12-11-2006 04:49 AM

I also agree with bringing it back. I believe I saw somewhere once that it was removed because it was lagging down the server or something? :p

But really... this is a feature that is commonplace on nearly every internet forum. Don't see the big deal about having it enabled. You mention it would create spam... but really, it's getting people to post more often... Which is something this forum desperately needs. If you remember back a couple years ago this forum was very active and had hundreds of people actively posting each day... Now we have like 30-50 people actively posting each day...

Days go by with no new posts in the general discussion... I mean... what's with that?

Agreed 100%.

Oh, and I do remember once hearing that the members list was disabled because of lag, which is ridiculous, rofl.

But yeah, what is so wrong with people wanting to up their post count? As long as the subject material isn't against the rules (which would be fixed by the rules), then more posting = better.

zell12 12-11-2006 08:55 AM

I remember loriel and then saying it was a bad idea something about the tables blah blah... **** it man. Graal has like a few active posters compared to other communities, wonder why?

No cool features, not even the basic ones. Moderators are acting like this is some sort of professional job or something, like come on, ****ing relax.

Devil 12-11-2006 11:37 AM

A car club which I am joined too has made more posts this year than the total of Graal forums. ....

zell12 12-11-2006 06:47 PM

Start treating the players with a little more respect here, we are all supporting the game here some how.

The forums are an auxiliary service as addition to the game. You don't have pay for forum access, you have to pay to play the game.

You need VIP/Gold to post constantly, it's a feature.

God, don't tell him that.
:p
I upgrade for m dev server.
But If I can't develop....

Back to the point though:
Members list.

Devil 12-12-2006 01:01 AM

SO I upgraded to VIP for no reason (to use the forums) when ANYONE can now.

You're lucky Rufus is making a server, so I have something to use my VIP account on.

You don't have it so bad; sure, wasted cash - but at least you got more to spare.

What does this have to do with the member's list being enabled?

Absolutely nothing.

But it did throw us off track for an entire day.

zell12 12-12-2006 10:12 PM

Anyway, so mabey we should starting listing why we want the members list enabled. Anyone smart enough with vB should make a post and explain how the members list doesn't use too much bandwidth etc. :)

I don't mind spending the money at all, but I like spending money and receiving things.

The top of the explorer bar should be changed now to, GRAAL COMMUNICATION CENTER (NOT RESERVED FOR ANYONE ANYMORE, EVERY MAN AND HIS DOG COME AND POST IF YOU HAVE A CLASSIC ACCOUNT).

 :noob:
