Comp design

2 Attachment(s)
One of the things I planned to do for the DR computer was to change the actual image of the comp.
So, what do you think?
Yeah, made to look like my computer :D
I also attached the other one, currently in use.
Same screen size, different computers, and some things with the image would be different.
The first one would fit on the screen better, and would obstruct less.

zell12 12-05-2006 07:25 AM

Not proportioned right... the laptop on the right anyway. The black circles look funny, there is no keyboard, too much space around the outside of the keyboard/touchpad space.

zim5354 12-05-2006 07:32 AM

err the first one looks better the second looks like rectangles in ms paint

Agreed.

First one looks pretty cool, though.

Mykel 12-05-2006 08:09 AM

I don't think you made the one on the left. No offense.

excaliber7388 12-05-2006 08:21 AM

It's true, I didn't draw it.
Well, it's a photoshop of an actual photo. :( (I'm a sucky artist).
I drew a bit, but not much at all.
I may 'dull' it a bit more to make it closer to graal's gfx; unless you like it the way it is.
I just wondered if you'd accept something that looked so much like my Macbook :p
Although the only hard part to draw would have been the keys...

Clearly you've never seen a 17" dell laptop :)

Crono 12-05-2006 05:36 PM

so much for playing games

excaliber7388 12-05-2006 08:06 PM

Lol
I'll have you know-my Mac does games better than my Dell ;)
Anyway a Mac is more appropriate because this is fast :p

I plan to have good designs for a PC look too, don't worry.
It's an open source project, after all.

zell12 12-05-2006 08:32 PM

just do the same thing you did with the mac, that pc dell looks crap... and so does the real one, I looked at it. Horrible.

Myomoto 12-05-2006 08:37 PM

I think the right one has got a lot of potential.
The outline needs to be cleaned up a bit, and you need to add some AA'ing to it as well, but you got the basic shape down.
Maybe try to add the keyboard as well, and some hole in the front, like the grid of the speakers :p

I'm not much of a fan of the left one, but I guess it would be better for an on screen image in Graal, since its that much smaller.

Edit: Oh, and get rid of the gradient fill :<

I doubt you can find many people who actually regard XP as a GOOD os :\

I liked XP Pro. Although I guess that doesn't count for much - I'm on osX right now.

Windows XP is a good OS as far as Microsoft OSes are concerned.

If I was running any other os in the world I'd hate it as well, I'm very sure I would, at least.

excaliber7388 12-06-2006 07:44 PM

Apparently you haven't used a nice OS in a while. I love mine.

No, I would hate it, because nothing can possibly service my every need as I expect.

excaliber7388 12-06-2006 09:23 PM

I'll take your word for it ;)

zim5354 12-07-2006 01:04 AM

if you want to game you need windows

Zideruic 12-08-2006 03:26 AM

Windows is ok as long as you can afford a computer that's fast enough to give resources to Windows and your programs. Vista/Longhorn worked fine on my dad's custom, and we put in on my laptop(which is a desktop replacer) and it destroyed the partition.

ugh dont remind me about vista, i really dont know how games are gona run on it unless your pc is like god like. I need to get a new rig pretty soon but I bet that OS sure leaves a hell of a foot print when it runs.

MegaMasterX90875 12-08-2006 07:07 PM

Vista does kind of need a beast machiene to run, even though I run it, I had to upgrade a few parts in my PC before I could put it in. Good OS, but is very picky.

Oh, and BTW, I'd rather use Linux than Windows XP.

excaliber7388 12-08-2006 07:26 PM

Yeah, it's hard for them to put all the ideas Apple had into the windows system.
I'm surprised you don't need a government grant to run it ;)
(btw, I am joking around)
