Where does the default dead gani derive from?
Because I've heard it in commercials before and so forth, so I'm assuming that whoever made it for Graal took a sample from someone else's work? How would copyright issues apply?

Dragon Ball Z (I think)

I think I heard it in a Nintendo commercial or so. I don't remember exactly, but I'm 100% sure that I've heard it in commercials, meaning that the dead gani from Graal must have been taken from whoever was the original maker of the sound. |
Ive heard the dead sound in a Mario commercial, and in a song once.
|
I've heard it in several PlayStation games also.
|
Public domain probably.
|
I heard it in a TV show one time.
|
I heard it on graal.
|
I heard it in a Tupac song.

I haven't heard it outside of Graal...Maybe I just don't pay attention enough.
|
There was a push to replace it once. Nothing came of it; it's too integral.

The old one with the "HONK" at the end is the best one. All others are INFERIOR.

PWNED! :) |
Why wasn't a unique one created for Graal instead of taking the sound from some random source?
|
*shrugs*
Personal theory? In the paleolithic era of Graal, when people were generally jerks to one another (TOTALLY DIFFERENT FROM TODAY LOLZ!), someone decided it'd be funny to upload a sound they ripped from Dragon Ball Z when the capsule-shuttle falls over in embarassment. Then, unexpectedly, it took off. Whoever uploaded it left eventually, may or may not have told anyone (who may or may not have listened), and so it became ingrained into the public conciousness. I forget who, but they tried to replace it with a "AAaarg!" yell, but everyone hated it. Feel free to make your own replacement, maybe it'll even get on the next update. |
The sound was taken from a public sounds database, as mentioned somewhere else in this thread. As were most of Graal's sound effects.
|
'long as it's public domain...but does anyone happen to know which one/have a link?
|
Hehe, just heard it in an Eminem song XD

Why is the arrow shooting sound used in Graal also used in Inuyasha many times? Because it's convenient. Yes they are public domain sounds for use by anyone. Don't assume theft just because you heard the sound on TV... It's not like the people who do cartoon sound effects aren't above taking from a free public sound database. Quote:

Because I am a hateful person who scorns all senses of interest and judges others around me based upon their interest inventories. I then proceed to use my infinite wit and forever clever mind to humiliate others while at the same time heightening the personal image of myself. In short, I build my self-esteem on the back of others.
but my friends call me tort |
I made a pretty awesome sound pack for Kingdoms / Zone / Classic not too long ago. The sounds weren't public property, but it's not like I was selling them either.

As people have said its really not that big of a deal, its not like its a song or a really intricate sound effect. Sound effects for small things are shared a lot, especially in TV and Movies. |
I miss the honk as well :(
... :)... HONK aheheheh |

Uhm, Has anyone played the Zelda games for the gameboy (Ex. Zelda: Link's Awakening DX)? >.> That reminded me of it most.
I think I did hear something like it on a commercial too and I was like O_O |
