Food idea

Ok, so the food bar is really annoying, so I thought why not make it so if you go into buildings your food bar will replenish because the citizens are nice and offer you food to aid you in your quest. Also I thought since people would abuse it maybe after level 10 it becomes costly and you must pay say 10 plat coins to replenish your food bar by say....500, this system is to help people who can't find food.

cyan3 10-19-2006 05:02 PM

That sort of like the MMT is and if people get food when your in a building people will not have to go to MMT anymore so it will just take bits of the game away and its less fun that way.

Sam 10-19-2006 05:09 PM

It is easy to go to the shore an kill some shell bomys. I don't see any reason why it should be changed.

bgumeny 10-19-2006 05:49 PM

As Sam said you can kill shell bomys to find food, or if you find that too difficult or are too lazy you can just drink water.

cyan3 10-19-2006 08:31 PM

Dont forget Misty Mug Tavern :) we always have food.

One of the highest death reasons for newbs: Doesnt find enough food.

Maybe it should be added into the tutorial WHERE you find food other then planting corn?

anubis_wing 10-19-2006 11:47 PM

:o that's a good idea. I'm just saying some times it can take a while to get some food and while your person starves it just isn't good.

Ravenblade1979 10-20-2006 12:04 AM

Well the MMT is still around for food.

anubis_wing 10-20-2006 01:15 AM

Sorry, am new what is the MMT?

Waltz5 10-20-2006 05:04 AM

This was just discussed not too long ago. And here's the posts I feel are worth mentioning.

To tell you the truth I've completely forgotten what life is like without a sustenance ammy. Myself when I first started out...(geez it feels like ages ago)...I reset my character over and over again untill I had somewhat decent stats and a sustenance ammy. It took forever...sheesh...because life is horrible without it. With the ammy, however... you still end up getting hungry, but it's at a MUCH more managable rate. It's at a rate that one would expect from a game. If the default was set at somewhere in between...maybe +8 sustenance...
But hey people have complained time and time again in the past, nothing will get changed. You're going to have to accept that.

UltimatheChosen 10-24-2006 01:18 AM

I personally find that 1 food/sec is way too fast. I run through food at an obscene rate when fighting or casting spells. Also, for new people, killing bomys takes long enough that they will be unable to get away from that for a very long time, making stuff very, very difficult. Furthermore, the MMT is often unstaffed (no offense, I understand it is impossible to keep it running all day). At the very least, make it so that newer players have a slower depletion rate.

Nonetheless, at the current rate, you need to eat over 6.5 kilograms of food every two minutes. I find that somewhat ridiculous. I understand that food adds realism to the game, but when that realistic element is compromised in this way, it becomes a true pain. When I first started, food depleted slow enough that every few hours I would have to bake 10 or so loaves of bread. Now I have to make 20 jerky every half hour.

When I had a blue dragon amulet I had a sack of holding full of food that I would burn through in a few hours. :\

anubis_wing 10-24-2006 02:57 AM

Problem with the misty mug tavern is that no one is ever on to serve me!
Maybe make a system where they say the good name and it auto takes the plats from you?

I have to disagree with that, Whenever I'm on Graal Kingdoms, either Ravenblade, Felix or myself will be on MMT tag. Atleast 1 of us will be there and willing to serve people.
And if no one is on MMT tag just ask someone if they would mind going on tag for 5 minutes and take your order.

And Fayt forgot to put in that we are going to hire more staff soon and fire all the inactive staff. So we should be back in business soon.

Ravenblade never serves me, he just ignores me.

UltimatheChosen 10-25-2006 04:19 AM

And also, Fayt is on, there is a relatively good chance that he will be serving. Therefore, you tend to not be on when it is unstaffed. Nonetheless, I suspect that you, like most of us, are on a schedule, and that means that those of us on different schudules or in different time zones.
Besides, the new players still NEED some way to survive. It can take up to a minute to kill a shell bomy with a sword. Say 3 shell bomys=1 food. That is 500 food every 15 min. At that rate, they will be dead within a half an hour. That is with nonstop food farming. Seriously, noone will sign up if they can't survive the first 15 minutes.

I started GK some 4 years ago, and the food situation hasn't changed at all since then. I had no problem finding food, even when I worshipped Ogma, and Aengus. I worship Bile now, and I don't have to worry about it any longer, but for some 2 years I was an Ogma worshipper and did just fine.

As a noob, I never had an issue because I leveled up on Battle Potatos, who dropped mandrake roots I sold for plat, and potatos to keep me full of food.

Noobs will survive, if they want to.

He's right. The problem is with Noobs today is they expect to many things to be just given to them. When started playing graal 3 years ago. Myself and Felix spent our time killing shell bomys on the beach. until we reached level 3, then we went in haunted house's with Bows to level. And If we needed food we would just kill bomys for 10 minute then we'd have enough food to last us a good few hours.
These days noobs just beg. They ask for items, and food and ask for people to level them up. When most the olbies that play Graal today did it all themselves. The new Graal genertaion are weak, lazy, wusses.

You can find food by killing shell bomies on the beaches, they often drop food. You can also dig up corn and turn it into flour and then bake it into loaves of bread, but this might be somewhat difficult for a new player.

When I was a just starting out, I just used my watering can and drank insane amounts of water or I ate corns and tree seeds or whatever monsters dropped while I was leveling. It was a pain in the ass but as Raelyn said, I wanted to survive so I did what I had to.

I think lost new players quit after 1 - 4 months becurese thay cant survive as a noob with the food system but i done fine with it and most of the other people who started before me and just after they made it ok so why cant new people now do the same thing.

UltimatheChosen 10-27-2006 01:37 AM

Because the food depletion rate is much faster now than it was then.

I just started playing GK a few months ago, so I'm reasonably sure the depletion rate hasn't changed much since then, and I have been able to cope. And seeing as how I am far from genius, it shouldn't be too hard for others.

UltimatheChosen 10-27-2006 02:28 AM

I was referring to when Felix started playing. But I started a few months ago, too, and the depletion rate has increased significantly. And yes, I'm sure this isn't a result of mana regen or health regen.

That will be apart of why your food will go down fast you might almost die all the time so your food will go down faster.
