Grass tiles

A little while ago I was making these tiles for Warcaptain on his project. Because I'm lazy and unmotivated I abandoned his project, and also the tileset. I believe he also did the same, so instead of letting this rot away I decided to be nice and let everyone else use them. The grass > grass (hills) tiles look incomplete, and probably don't look very nice. I leave that up to whoever uses these to fix that.

My grass graphics are SD3 inspired, yeah. That's what was usually requested back when I worked, so my style eventually grew to encompass it.

Pretty nice, they look very stylised.

Infernix 10-07-2006 08:16 PM

smirt362 10-07-2006 08:46 PM

Thats hot.

Zero Hour 10-07-2006 09:02 PM

Quite nice, although when they're tiled (in WanDaMan's example) they appear almost vertical.

Very nice.

You can use what I provided to make sure that these tiles do not look repetitive like bare levels will do to any tileset. You're the only person that's really bothered to point that out, albeit how obvious it is. You're going to run into problems no matter how complex your grass tiles are if that's the only thing contained in the level. Wan was merely showing off it's aesthetic quality.

I wasn't nit-picking, I was simply pointing out a disturbing optical "side effect" of the continuous tone. :\

Is that brown water or dirt, the way it's shaded around the Grass/Brown tiles kind of makes it look like a liquid.
