Rather nice cliffs for a first time cliffer, but I sure hope you will continue to work on the shading and stuff.

Cliffs in a level
1 Attachment(s)
|
I wanna see bigger. :)
|
define bigger :D (btw for bigger image, click it :P)
and I got some tile errors I gotta fix :p BTW: you guys gotta tell me some ideas how to make it less flat :) more colors? shade it? (like shade from one view or shade the sides of the cliffs or something?) any suggestions? |
I like them, altough, I prefer the tilesets (Cliffs) we used on BP.
|
hmm, they was too bright and editing those would take horrible long time :(
|

It looks like the entire thing is smooth and has no texture at all which isnt normal for a cliff lol. Also the bottom doesnt look right on the grass IMO.
|
hmm, your right, but I don't know how to make it less flat,
like, should I put more colors? shade it? (from one view or on the sides?) and I'll work on it :) |

BUMP!
I almost forgot that I made this thread :p I just noticed the cliffs image on my comp, sooo.... well, I tried to add some more colors to it, etc.. I hope it looks better, or is it worser? Attachment 38386 (BTW; the squares was for checking tiles, I think it should work much better in levels then the other one did.) |
The front still looks flat.
|
hmm, true, I was thinking of adding a shadow,
but hard doing that in MS Paint, since you can't take an color from the board and edit the RGB of it, only from the one's existing in that little corner... Or, is it an way? I could even put it in shotoshop.. hmm.. |
I think you need to give it another point of depth by giving it a darker color for the deepest part of the cliffs. Like this:
http://forums.graalonline.com/forums...1&d=1162308811 But I just rushed and squiggled the line in there and didn't bother with the back side... but you get the idea. |
The link didn't work :[
Well yeah, your right, I could add an new depth to it.. Hmm, anyone know a tutorial I can use for shading stuff like this? |
Just dont Pillow Shade ;)
|
Pillow shading's a newbie term for those who don't know what the hell a color gradient is.

They look pretty good, but try adding some texture to them. The shape is fine but as others said they're too smooth and don't look very cliff-ish.
Keep at it though, its a great start. |

Very...cartoony. I don't think they'd look good with the rest of the default Graal tileset. But it'd be interesting to see a tileset with some kind of general theme such as that.
