PWA guidelines on Classic Servers

Shouldn't there be some guidelines for classic servers? For example in 2002 I remember PWA told the freshly revived oldskool bravo that their levels were too plain to stay public.

Does PWA have such authority today?

For example: Delteria + Atlantis' extreme lack of playerbase. Does PWA have the power to do anything?

I also hear PWA have no power on the server Classic? Uh...

I personally believe some kind of guidelines should be placed forward by the PWA team so that some classic playerworlds don't stay the same and crappy. A fine example would be Delteria, they are working on New Delteria but is anything being done on the server itself? Same situation as Valikorlia where Clash was told to update Valikorlia itself.

Another example would be if an issue arises on Classic (the server) that requires global attention.

Discuss.

KuJi 08-10-2006 04:21 AM

That's because back then graal had a player base of 2000+ and now has a playerbase of 400+ :o

killerogue 08-10-2006 05:07 AM

I agree. There should be some PWA guidlines. And PWA's should check up on prospering PWs (SoG, SH, Esteria, Cynical) every now and then to see where they are at. :P And talk with the Managers.

Crono 08-10-2006 04:32 PM

I'm surprised this place didn't get more posts...it kind of is an important issue.

warp2ukew 08-10-2006 08:55 PM

I will post for you Crono :P

Delteria is trying to create a new overworld, so they should definitly be put back into the developing process and taken off the classic list.

Atlantis will not be taken off the list because it's the only German server. If Galbadia or whatever came back, then hopefully Atlantis would be removed.

If some of you were smart you would convert your server to German to get an easy pass to classic :P

No need for the PWAs to do so, when development is already being worked on.

Why does everyone want servers off of the list? It makes no sense what so ever. Just because their in development doesnt mean they need to be removed from the Classic Tab. They have a private Development Server for a reason.

Most servers that arent doing so good, usually go into a big Development stage of hopes to have a decent daily playercount after their development is complete. Delteria has a decent playercount everynight and weekend.

Im not sure if im making much sense, but if Delteria has the current requirements to be on the Classic list, and are just improving themselves, what's the point to take them off? GraalOnline wants to attract players, not have them leave because a server was removed for no good reason, you know? It's like why are people complaining so much (Not directed to a sole player) that servers stay online? If servers that dont reach atleast a minimum of 40 players a day were to be removed from the classic tab, you could say goodbye to a few servers and alot of players.

Also, you cant forget about the players in different timezones than yourself, youd be suprised at how many players come on when your in bed sleeping. I guess i can understand if a server was on the classic tab, no staff came online for days at a time and the daily playercount is low (5-10 daily), yes it should be removed. My point is that all the current 'inactive' servers on the classic tab are making a clear attempt at improving for the future, meaning staff come on all the time and develop, they still manage to have ETs host events for the players that do come online (Consideration/care). penalizing inactive playerworlds by putting them on the private list (especially when an attempt to improve is being made) is pointless in my opinion. If it does come to a decision, i think it should be up to the Owner of the server if he/she wants their Playerworld temporarily private due to inactivity.

Yeah I can clearly see the amazing development Valikorlia has been going through since 2004. I mean it's so awesome and different I could piss my pants.

I can also see how much Delteria has changed over the years.

Let's not forget our old pal Atlantis, sitting there with no players at all.

James205 08-13-2006 03:40 PM

I think too much attention is going towards classic playerworlds and requirements are a bit too much. I think more attention and time should be put towards graal online official projects and gold servers specifically. Gold Servers really lack players and servers (there are still only 2 after all this time).

Converting to german... wait I heard this before...

Anyhow having a multi language system that include English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Chinese... would be in the best interest of any server.

Elk 08-14-2006 04:49 PM

Atlantis had +130

There will be a new Overworld on Atlantis soon which will be like the OW in Zelda the WW

It's much more GraalOnline-maintained than other servers.

I believe no PWA that started playing in 2004/5 should have the right to decide what should or should not be on that server.

Thats like saying Bomymoons should be a playerworld because that aswell is no longer a "GraalOnline-maintained" playerworld. Not saying it shouldn't be but just useing it as a example.Classic was created by GraalOnline and hasn't changed much, so there for just because it isn't "maintained" by graalonline doesn't mean it isnt a graalonline playerworld. They don't have time to nor the patience to run such a low developed world when they have Kingdoms,Zone and Graal3D to worry about.Don't you think?

That and PWA told me that PWA do indeed have power on Classic.

You sure hate Delteria a lot

Go on RC to chat with friends?

He was the harshest on Valikorlia, speaking of Delteria's regularly low or nonexistant playercount doesn't imply hatred in my book.

I would agree it is perhaps not a playerworld in the sense that it is run by players, but being a run-by-players-world was never a requirement for the PWA to have jurisdiction.

Now, I can see that trying to have Classic removed for low player count is extremely unlikely. However, as far as bans, illegal content, music being hosted, staff behavior/management, etc goes it's all still under our umbrella.

You and I both know I don't hate Delteria, but I see no reason why it should be kept public. That and maybe unixmad would finally realize "ohey we r runing out of classic pws w/ playerz..."

PWA = Playerworlds Administration Team, which means you only have jurisdiction over playerworlds.

It's hard to verify, for as far as I know, the PWA has never dealt with the latter (or at least enforced it).

Classic is run by players. So why is it not a playerworld?

That doesn't seperate it from playerworlds though, simply means Graal is advertising what WAS it's old main server.

nikomi946 08-15-2006 08:47 PM

The way I see it, if a server is payed for by a graalian or graalians, its a playerworld. If its sponsored by Graalonline its not. I've found that PWA try not to interfere with Classic administration unless they think rules of Graalonline are being broken. If it turns out to just be a local matter they'll either suggest something be done or leave it alone completely.

Crono 08-15-2006 09:21 PM

No, bell.

No it doesn't. "Classic" isn't staff run, so that makes it a playerworld. It doesn't matter who created it, it just depends on if its Graal run or not. And obviously Graal Online does not run classic, so I consider it a playerworld.

Have you ever enforced anything against the manager's will?

Yen 08-16-2006 07:50 PM

Stefan said Zodiac would go classic between today and Friday.
Unfortunately,Vulcan and Ibonic seems to be doing everything in their power to prevent me from developing. They just lost every bit of respect I had for them.

James205 08-16-2006 07:54 PM

Umm when was Classic ever considered a playerworld? It was an official project and was the beginning of graal (for the most part). Just because it's on the classic list doesn't mean it's essentially a playerworld. Classic is Classic, a playerworld are the other servers, just because it's managed like every other server doesn't matter.
