Word Filter
 

From what ive seen today, the forum word filter isnt very secure. :(

I think all offensive racial terms should be added and the "slang" racial terms terms should be set to loose.

yea, it sucks, like when typinbg script on here you cant put "wash1t" properly and theres a few words which shou;d always be censored,

I think they just messed up the, "exact" and "loose" settings completey. Can easily be re-adjusted.:)

I looked in my admin cp for the filter, but could not find it. I assume that I don't have access. I will look again, and ask Unixmad where it is when I see him.

The section your looking for on the left of your Admin CP is called "Word Filter", it's not a 'sub-option' either, it should appear just like Forum & Moderators ect, but yes, if you dont see it, you dont have permission to it, yet atleast. Thanks for letting me know. :)

Listen, I have a problem with a person saying ****** when he means it in a racist way, that pisses me off.
But when it's more like "waht's up nigga?"

It's in options -> Then goto Word Filter (Might wanna Control + F it - its LOOONG)

vBulletin only checks for that word aswell as ( i think ) spaces between words.

The people who say "waht's up nigga?" are ignorant, it's quite rediculous how you don't care if that term/phrase is said but when the non-slang term is said you have a problem with it. !pissed!

Anyway let's not turn this into an argument, let's just hope the Word Filter gets updated.

*** is not a bad word, *** people call themself ***. Its people who tend to use it wrong.

Some of these words that you are talking about, I next to never see anyone use.
The ones that are filtered have been used often.
It does need to be updated.

I think it's funny how s.t.f.u. is censored. I tried typing it one day, and like a big sterilized christmas present, there it was, in all asterisks.

Language is living. Therefore it is meaningful to revise the word filter. The German word "geil" was a word to express only sexual excitation, many years ago. Today it's mainly used like the english word "cool" in the sense of "awesome".

I agree. Also there's a loose option and an exact option for the word filter. In most cases, they should all be exact to prevent interference of other words.

Of course, there should be the option to turn it off ;)

Im sorry but by this thread we should censor all words which offend anyone anywhere ever.

cracker dosent offend me either but people use it offensively yet you dont want to censor it

same for wetback, camel jockey, towelhead, etc. They dont offend me, but they may offend someone, somewhere.

If you want to play the game censor them all, period. There should be no inbetween just because something offends you but something else dosent, thats really stupid, and last time i checked, you arent the law on what is offensive or not.

To be honest they are all just words, letters formed in a language, and when you ***** and complain about how they "offend" you then thats where the word gets its power, if anything else, you are just as racist as anyone else because you are offended by a combination of letters.

Yes, hence the reason im requesting this. Some people, such as myself, actually know the meaning behind that and other words used many years ago. (NOT the current definition (s) in todays dictionary)

That word doesnt offend EVERYONE who hears it, but still, a majority are offended by it, plain and simple.(Especially the people who understand it's true meaning)
There are a few derogatory words which need to be filtered. This wasnt mean for a debate and agrument, it's a very simple request, which should be done.

And unless you DO know what ****** means, listen to google!

By your reasoning we should have the word filtered in the past since it no longer means the same thing now, right? Seriously.

Ive never seen anyone besides those au idiots use it anyways, so why would you filter something that by no mean or reason is even used?

Then you should have used other means to relay your "Future Imrpovement" since you have such great friendships and relationships with people higher in power.

According to Unixmad, the forums will be updated soon, so the filter will be looked into also.
