A solution to the current forum issues.
Call me crazy... but isn't the Graal Communication Center about communicating?
Why not make polls for old rules and new rules and let the active members of the forum community decide? I'm not saying that every member should just come up with a poll whenever they feel like it... But that the administration/management should create polls when conflicts arise, to try and straighten things out. Even if the polls don't directly affect change, they could at least let the administration/management know where the majority of active forum posters stand on issues. An example would be a poll asking if you think a certain rule is too strict. With a simple Yes or No answer. Then the administration could look at say "well okay, 200 people think it's too strict and 20 people are fine with it... maybe we should change it". Not saying you HAVE to change it, but it's just a suggestion. Why make rules that are going to aggravate 90% of the forum population? I'm just saying... Mother doesn't always know best, and sometimes Mother can be overprotective. By Mother I'm not referring to anyone in particular... Just the authority of the forums. (which includes all admins/mods/management) Obviously I'm not endorsing anti-Graal anything here. I'm just suggesting that the people can feel like they hold some weight to the decision making around here. |
I think that's a great idea.
If only to let the authority figures know how the majority of the active forum members feel about things. |
How do I post polls?

It's getting bad.

Btw, this is a great idea. Now, let's watch it flop. |
I know I'm tried of seeing threads closed because someones question was answered, and it's against the rules to remake a thread. Why close threads like that? What if that person wanted to come back and ask something else instead of making a new thread, what if someone had something to add?
That is then biggest problem in my opinion right now with the actions of mods. Meh. Good idea Koni. |

If Mother is referring to the Moderators...then are the regular members a large collective Norman Bates?

Or maybe let the members revise and prove the rules they like. |
In all fairness - it should be a blind poll. If Graal lets the players see that 99% support the removal of "National Socialist Party" from the banlist, (or approves the discussion of MMORPGs solely in the context of strategizing how Graal can beat them out for market share,) then they decide it's not in Graal's best interest to allow that particular rule to change, there's gonna be a riot.
On the other hand, if it's a secret poll, The Powers That Be can say "We have taken the matter under advisement and decided on the following:" |

Wait, even if this is a good idea, it isn't going to solve many of the "current forum issues".
|
Tell me why you not going to other existing forums, where you can post all these things? If the rules and the moderations here don't fit with your wishes, it's the best solution to leave.

You know what, I'm sure we could bring every single person to a clone of this, run by other people. It wouldn't be the same without stefan and unix around, but whatever. Once players stop using this, maybe you guys will realize, "Hey, I think those guys were right, we should of listened to them, and considered some of their suggestions."
