Quite nice, you could dramatically improve it within minutes if you dropped it into photoshop and added some shadow and dirt and such.

Zero is right.. but it wouldnt go with the rest of the server which is awesome btw..

I love it Tony.

This is a fairly rough draft, but I just tossed it into photoshop and did some simple stuff.

Zideruic 06-17-2006 10:02 PM

Even on my ultra bright mode that looks good ^^

That makes it look shiney...

Didn't anybody notice that the brick pattern is really effed up? Also the bottom two rows of shingles on the front of the roof look like they're out of place, they look as if it's a bit of painted cardboard that's been pasted there.

Edit: The perspective on the lamp over the door is different than that of the building itself.

And the fact that only half of the building was drawn, coloured, and shaded, then a horizontally flipped half was stuck next to it doesn't help. There are also some perspective issues with those rafters on the roof.

Add outlines
I like the wood texture and the perspective ;)

The brick looks copy+pasted...

Pft there goes my daily post! :)

lancelot9 06-18-2006 04:51 AM

I like it the way Tony made it. for the server anyways.

Agreed.

Draenin 06-19-2006 02:32 PM

Those rocks down at the bottom look ripped / recolored from Kingdoms.

And - tadaa - now it cant be used on Relic anymore :D

Draenin 06-19-2006 03:45 PM

Who says? It was Tony's original work.

However, Tony, a word of advice: Everything on relic looks sun-faded. If you are playing around with brightness a lot on your objects, I'd advise you to turn to some other methods. Turning up brightness in images makes the colors look hazy.

of course I could have made it look all shiney and textured but relic isn't kingdoms and hazy pastel colored graphics pretty much make up the whole server yeah allot of it is copy/pasted flipped and mirriored but what the hell it still fits in with the rest of my graphics and I didn't want a perfect brick pattern this way it looks more aged and flawed and a granary should look just so. If the rocks look familiar they were cut out of the relic tileset and placed around the base of the structure. Thx for the replies guys later..

Edit- Here is the kingdoms edition =P

Draenin 06-19-2006 05:36 PM

The shading is done much better with that one. Also, Zero's revision isn't 'shiny,' the colors are just more saturated, and all the highlights / shadows are put in the right places.

Zideruic 06-19-2006 06:52 PM

Zero's wood looks funtacularly hippyish.

Darn, I guess what you're trying to say is that you've got a bad sense of color (don't worry, I do too) or that your monitor's settings are messed ;)

So, on a more serious note - what I'm saying is that the colors I used in mine are simply the right colors (I didn't chose them, the "auto color" in photoshop did). But I believe you "gk" version of the granary looks nice :)

Its good.

But.

Dont pillow shade the roof. Please. Pillow shade something with walls, or somethnig which can cast a shadow. All of a roof is equally exposed to the sun unless its not level.
Shade the sides more. It looks flat.
Up the contrast a bit, itll make it look dramatic.

Having said that; I like the graphics in relic, they are appealing, because they are all the same style. Check it out some time, and you will see how this does fit in with the rest of the server. Dont mistake me for a forum troll, because I am offering help.
