Sprites for the Pool of Chaos spell animation on Kingdoms.

I'd like to hear what you guys think.

zephirot 06-13-2006 05:04 PM

It looks like a clouds, but it is very nice.

killerogue 06-13-2006 05:07 PM

I like the skulls blending thing you got going on.

Sage_Shadowbane 06-13-2006 06:07 PM

I dont very much get it...but very nice none-the-less. ^^

lancelot9 06-13-2006 06:19 PM

maybe make ripple sprites?? so it looks more like water.

Draenin 06-13-2006 06:47 PM

That's not a bad idea.

Oh, and for those who don't get it, the pool is supposed to be in the ground. The bubbly-looking parts are there so that when put on the ground, it looks like the ground has torn itself open.

I love the souls
Looks a bit nice =D

Sage_Shadowbane 06-13-2006 07:01 PM

Ahhh ok, I see now. Good job Draenin ^^ I likeish your style.

I'm not trying to be negative, but are we looking at the same graphic?

It looks grainy and very unclear...

Draenin 06-13-2006 07:47 PM

It is somewhat unclear, actually. Good eye. That happened to be exactly what was bothering me while I was doing it. However, I am unsure of what to do in order to make it a bit cleaner. The rocks / dirt I am pretty content on, though. The actual pool itself is what bothers me.

The skulls in the pool are a product of me layering an image of stacked skulls over a 1-shade purple pool, and then setting the opacity along with using a filter in order to get it to show up in the pool alone, and nowhere outside. The image also got distorted somewhat due to resizing it to 50%. Perhaps I should empty out just the pool portion and select a different image with better clarity?

I don't think that's necesary. Try messing with the opacity of the purple and then the schools more.

If you make it look foggy it should work.

Okay. Tiny modification. Couldn't do much more with the opacity since the layers already had been merged due to png format. Anyway, is the clarity a little better now?

Edit: Oh, hey, wierd, the transparency makes it black in thumbnails. :\ Ah well, full view it.

Chris 06-13-2006 08:41 PM

Looks good to me Curtis.

Sage_Shadowbane 06-13-2006 10:03 PM

I really like it except one little thing...I personally think the rocks are kind of too shiny to look like...rocks? I dunno, could just be me.

Elk 06-13-2006 10:03 PM

But it matches with GK haha
GK IS UNCLEAR ;D!

Sage_Shadowbane 06-13-2006 10:05 PM

Haha, good point elk. >_<

XGoLink 06-13-2006 10:07 PM

Hah hah, good, already hosted it on google, ay? Cause thats were I saw it

Draenin 06-13-2006 10:16 PM

Hosted what on google?

GoZelda 06-14-2006 01:57 PM

Not bad at all.

Butz 06-14-2006 05:08 PM

It looks good, but I am disappointed at the lack of kitty cats and rainbows.

Draenin 06-14-2006 05:20 PM

Yeah, I need to get around to including those.
