Yeah... Grenades...

Look, I don't know about you, but it looks so stupid when I throw anything other than a baseball like a baseball. Where am I going with this? It's so stupid to see my player throw a grenade in a straight line, with no arc. It's really not that hard to add an arc to it, that's what the z angle in the shoot command is for. Basically, this is what I'm asking for, if you don't feel like reading my post.

hmmm interestin but.......that would change the style of grenade fighting immensely

r u sayin add a button (Z) to throw it like that? either way, i agree......and like the thought.....kinda....

if u change the throw completely then thatll just...not work.....makin it extremely easy to avoid

how would throwin down and up work? same as now?

Huwajux 06-07-2006 06:24 PM

It wouldn't really make that much of a difference.

Except that you could throw them over barricades and what not. Which would actually make them realistic. If someone is hiding behind a snow barricade, and I can't get to him because he's using a chaingun, I'd normally jetpack to him (which I can't now :[). If grenades can be used like this, then You'd be able to easily at least move people who do this, if not kill them.

And now I realize that because the grenades explode on contact, you would need to keep the other throwing method available (Like Touya said, I think.) so that you wouldn't throw it over the guy's head.

But, it doesn't really matter, this idea wasn't that well thought out in the first place :p

I feel grenade should be able to be lobbed over objects and maybe bounce or richochet off of walls once or twice.

icemaster 06-07-2006 07:40 PM

now...i like it even more =]

GREAT idea

Huwajux 06-07-2006 07:46 PM

@ Cor.

I see now! Nice idea! It will be implemented hopefully. I'll have a word...

Sulukra 06-07-2006 10:48 PM

Let me throw it over fences and I'll be happy.

Who's the idiot who voted no? :[

Also, I think the only thing that would have to be changed (besides the script) is the GANI, and all that would be added to it would be a shadow...

My little scripter is finally confusing the Zone community with technical terms. :*}

Also, the z value (he talked about it in the first post) is a height value. It's odd that graal has it, since z is a more 3d-game kind of variable. In real life, if you step to your left or right, you can consider that your x axis. If you walk forward or backward, it can be considered your y axis. If you're floating or falling from the sky, that'd be considered your z axis. In this case, he wants the grenade to rise, then fall, thus using the z axis.

Thusly making the grenade actually work like it's supposed to.

But I'm not all too sure about changing the grenade launcher... it wouldn't make that much of a difference, and since it is 2-handed, you could keep the old mode as well.

Huwajux 06-08-2006 05:53 PM

Which is basically (Hopefully) to be used on CTF. :)

someonesomewhere 06-09-2006 05:39 PM

Stress the hopefully. CTf has been worked on for a long time now, and I was hoping that I'd be able to play it before my gold time ran out. I suppose not.

Anyway, it'd be really nice of Stefan to use this idea. It completely changes grenades, but it'd be for the better...

It's a 1 man job, I was asking for help but I am going to make it to as near perfection as a Zone map can get.
