Mages
why when we cast spells it takes ages?
And though it takes time to cast if you get hit you lose your spell.. No wonder mages aren't so good as melee pvp. The casting times should vary per casting. like summon pet monster should be fairly fast as you'd need monsters fast if they to stand a chance against others. bullets would need to be faster, ice storm too. Big powerful spells like create bomb are perfect but stuff like create food, and attack spells and summoning takes way too long. |

However, I'd like to point out that it's stupid to have heavy rods insta-cast spells with the wait time afterwards. It completely defeats the purpose of having normal wands. Either give them a casting animation like other ones, or make normal wands like that. Spells right now can be interrupted on normal wands, but not on heavy rods, which doesn't make sense. |
sigh...
how'd i know you'd disagree?
from now on i'm nicknaming you mr negativity... Seriously no wonder all the staff are going out of their minds with stress... i never said anything about heavy rods at all X.x and didn't meantion wiating time. i said for some spells waiting time should be decreased... such as spells like bullet spells.. pvp spells and summoning spells. as they aren't so powerful. powerfuller spells need mroe time they should take longer than the simple bullet and pvp spells. |
Heavy rods cost money. The normal spell casting time should depend on the spell though, that's true.

Ooh.. i'm so sorry to have offended you oh great emperor. hehe.
I'll leave you be in your land of far far away. anyways i agree with draenin about they shouldn't be uninteruptable.. i mean how hard is it to swing a rod? it's just like a sword but without a blade xD shouldn't be that hard really... |
Well, even melee attacks are interruptable, but the attacks happen so fast it's hard to do so. However, most magic attacks take 6 times as much time to perform. Magic should still be interruptable, but the chance of the interruption actually happening should depend somewhat on the user's respective magic / wisdom level total. For example, if a player were at level 5 magic, the attacker would have a 95% chance of interrupting. If the player were level 20 magic, the enemy would have an 80% chance, etc. Magic level or wisdom level would be used to determine how hard the caster can focus on casting the spell being used.

perfect
thats good xD
Also you know what'd be good? an item such as a certain mana crystal that increases casting rate temporarily. so you can rapid fire your spells for a certain amount of castings. Use as an emergency thing. |
Glowing Crystal.
|
wow
now your talking hehe.
nice one. |
It's not so much the spell system as it stands doesn't work that make being a mage a major headache.
It's the extreme lack of individuality in the gaming script. Seriously, since we can't hold over 300 pounds without going 1.222 or whatever, perhaps you could give us teleports, that actually give *gasp* the manastone more use than the occasional alchemist's spell? |
Prayer's too strong and magick is too weak. Cause severe wounds or something like that and large bullet are problably the two best pvp spells in game. Neither have a large chance of interruption. Magick with slower speed and a higher interruption chance would work wonders if mages could cast a negative speed buff that is stronger.

Well I'm sorry that not all of it can achieve the greatness that is bumming excellent items off of friends, Draenin.
Some of us actually have to make do with a speed and dexterity cast, a hat, RoT's, and a magnifying glass *Gasp* stoneage, I know. |

Also, I get 28 Dexterity alone from dual RoTs and Brigid's Gloves because RoWs make you weak, so I don't want to hear it. I've earned all of what I have, (save for my sandals, which were a gift to me when I was given leadership of Samurai.) and anyone can tell you that. The difference between you and I is that I've made wise decisions about what I'm after, and you have not. |
No, I just have enough of a life to where I dont care what e-items I have in a $40/year game, Draenin.
That's what seperates the Kingdom Leaders from the followers, a life. |

You like to point out irrelavent things; that's not arguing, that's trying to make yourself look cool. You also like to throw mud. That's a fun game to play if you don't actually mean it, or you're just doing it to be a jerk - but it doesn't actually do anything. A few simple things to keep in mind when you want to pwn someone is the facts behind their arguments, and with that in mind, the key points of their argument. Consider their argument a chimney built brick-by-brick. Each brick is a point in the argument, or a brick in the chimney (if you will). If you want to dismantle a chimney quickly you're take the base bricks out first... but it's sometimes fun to do it brick-by-brick in a manner of speaking. :) |
A mage could DESTORY THAT CHIMNEY!

Ah, Cid, and here we were thinking you were the better mor emature one, or, atleast, that's what you've been telling us. :(

You obviously haven't used the new bullet storm in PvP.
We used to have like 6 PvP viable spells. Now we only have 2 or 3. Oh... and myth-simba... SHUT UP. Will add something here in an edit if no one posts under me because I need to explain this out throughly. |

well it all depends..
depends on how you use your magic,
i think if you can cast pretty fast you can use your skill with fighting a lot more. such as you can dodge enemy melee and enemy mage missles. of course it depends on spell. I think the game should make pvp spells. powerful and quite fast spells. not as fast where as you can lame people but at least give melee players a hard time. melee players are too strong for the average gamer nowadays. i've been playing graal a year and a half and still cannot survive melee. the average new gamer to graal don't stand a cance and not many people have the patience nor time to wait that lengh of time to do some decent damage. i know there is pvp spells out there but they aren't anything special. magic and melee should b equally balanced in power. Where you choose from start your path, melee magic or both. because it's expensive fighting with melee but not so expensive with magic, it gives everyone a chance to fight each other. so in RPG wars which is the main part of the server everyone can get involved. |

They should. Things are currently in favor of Mages. With the new casting system, you can lock on and run across the map and cast on people. Maybe you should try fighting smart, and stop complaining. *edited* Instead of casting burning hands or other fire spells at those wearing PMoP's. Try lots of different spells. A great spell (against those wearing RoWs, especially) is Manablast. Pure magic rapes those with -44 magic resistance, and it seems to cast faster than large bullet, I hear. If somone worships bile, use holy word. Two or three shots usually kilsl me. Try switching to Leuc, forked lightning OWNS. Bullet storm (whatever the hell it is) is great also, 2-3 casts could be enough to take out lots of people. |
Things aren't entirely in the favor of mages. Granted, magic is powerful, but I've gotten killed by melee attacks quite a few times. People who are mainly melee and fight against magic need to sometimes work on their skills of dodging / closing the gap between themselves and their adversaries. One very easy way to do so is to whip out a bow and start firing back.
