Uhh you cans et up a FTP quite easy via Linux and Apache2/TOMCAT; But if your talking about accesing the Server files as a FTP? Or let Servers access a FTP and hvae like a global head server?

That'd be neat, but doubt it's possible, or will ever be possible. Heads would be deleted left and right, unless Unixmad wants to set the CMHOD permissions of every head that's to be uploaded;).

I think he means FTP access to individual servers' files.

it may be possible but I am not the director of Graal's servers

I assume there is a root folder that contains all the worlds, or a root folder with a servers world inside. I guess the folders could be viewed like the playerworld list, and that you could get access based on rights on the playerworld. Perhaps give a usage to adminpanel finally?

Consider RC to be your FTP.

Well yeah, would be cool to have a ftp for image folders, people could upload their own crap.

The deletetion thing you mentioned, i'm sure you could set permissions, via CHMOD etc.

Do you know how much work that is, to set each CHMOD permission?

Bash scripts can automate the process.

It won't happen. It isn't secure enough, and it would be asking for trouble.

Fogles 05-09-2006 07:49 PM

It's secure unless someone brute forces it for like 5days

No. It is not very secure.

Bugs in the ftdp software could be one problem. Messed up permissions could be another.

There probably was a reason it has been removed in the first place, most likely because you can't exactly see who did what on a FTP.

Well, I suppose some FTP servers would support logging.

It was probably removed because it is more convenient to just use RC to access it.
