Coat like armour

Ever watch a few movies like the Matrix? They run around with leather coats on, sure but what does this have to do with GK?

Well I been thinking, what would a coat of scale mail or even partial plate/scale mail armour look like on a graal character?

Just really a random idea that I had.

Draenin 04-28-2006 12:34 AM

Robes.

CidNight1142 04-28-2006 12:37 AM

Sounds cool. Anything new graphically is generally a good thing. Speaking of which, any word on that "all of your gear will eventually be visible" rumor that was going around?

ReBorn_Spirit 04-28-2006 12:41 AM

Well yes I actually have an Idea list. Next on my list is mage robes, Since you brought that up.

Mage robes, mages can't wear much armour because hey, it restricts magic casting. Well how about mage robes that reduce strength and maybe dex and add something useful for mages like pow, or wisdom for a preist robe. If you wanted to make it really neat you could limit such robes only to mages or priests based on what class you actually are.

This bring up one more idea.
Warrior only items, barbarian.. alchemist.. priest only.
You get the idea, some really good reasons to be different classes would help some, and it could hurt some. But if you get a small diversity of equipment out like that, it could be worth while.

CidNight1142 04-28-2006 12:43 AM

Yeah, but classes are too far gone to actually base anything off of them. There's no reason why, once past level 10, a warrior or barbarian can't be a mage and vice versa.

ReBorn_Spirit 04-28-2006 12:46 AM

Yes yes, but thats why this could be a good idea. You could atleast being to bring back reason to have a specific task. It wouldn't be just a few people with so high of level they can simply make a scroll for you to get the task done. It would mean you could bring out an actually mage person from your kingdom and not have to have a warrior defening it at all times. This would be because the mage would have his own armour type on and helps HIM, not the barbarian class, survive the battle.

CidNight1142 04-28-2006 12:49 AM

I suppose, however, what happens to all the people with hundreds or thousands of hours who are playing as a mage but have a warrior class (or vice versa)? Should they reset their account?

ReBorn_Spirit 04-28-2006 12:50 AM

They wouldn't have to change because they simply wouldn't have the bonus a mage would have. But instead they would have a warrior's bonus equipment. In theory a mage with armour for a warrior could be even deadlier.

**Note - this would only be because the warriors bonus equipment could correct some of the mages areas that he lacks in. This of course wouldn't help or affect the mage attack that warrior uses. Unless its got some negatives on it. But you can still use regular armour.

Not if the armour gives reductions to pow, int, wis, etc (which it should). Then they'd just be a jumbled mass without any particular weaknesses or strengths, and thus, easy to kill.

ReBorn_Spirit 04-28-2006 12:53 AM

Yes well thats the problem when you multiclass. That would be the penalty and the reason not to allow any player to be "god" like. They would have some weakness, even if it was generally and/or evenly spread out throughout his character. Again if you dont want the negative use regular armour.

CidNight1142 04-28-2006 12:55 AM

I suppose. It just seems to be giving a specific advantage to those that 'stuck with their class' when there was, in fact, absolutely no reason to do so.

ReBorn_Spirit 04-28-2006 12:56 AM

New items are good to have, if you can give a game balance again it makes it playable. Right now the game is out of balance and something like this could correct it.

Draenin 04-28-2006 01:03 AM

Wow. This thread exploded in 5 minutes. Dayaa, make some ganis, and give me some specifications for armor dimensions.

ReBorn_Spirit 04-28-2006 01:12 AM

Wish I could make you a gani, thats only one thing I can't really do.

I can edit a gani to fix it, I can make levels and script. But I guess I'll just have to say about what the armours should look like.

Okay heres the scoop

* Leather coats that are a little longer then the characters back for theives
* Partial scale/plate male armour for a warrior, it would have the breast plate
* A barbarian could have a long coat of scale mail armour with the breast plate as well, Meaning it would have quite a bit of ac for some extra weight.
* A Robe, actual robe for a mage, could have this match the mage hats allready out.
* and then the Priest, well I don't really know but I was thinking Priests could have something to make them end up being some holy knight or paladins.

I'm not entirely so sure of these yet, just a basic idea so far.

CidNight1142 04-28-2006 01:15 AM

I want the thieves stuffffff, but I'm a warriorrrrrr. See there's the problem. I'm not going to reset my level 32 character with 140 diamonds or whatever worth of gold keys into my stats for a piece of armor. If we do this, we should let the players decide for themselves what they want to be.

ReBorn_Spirit 04-28-2006 01:29 AM

Yes I know, I play as a mage and my class says Priest.

I have thought about this long and hard ok. I wouldn't purposely shoot my foot...atleast with a shotgun..
