Stat cap agreements

2K2 needs a kingdom mode in order to make RP battles possible for the average player. But it doesn't seem like that's going to happen. It might be possible, however, if we could agree on voluntarily-enforced caps on some stats (most likely ac, dam and hp) then the average player could become relevant in a fight again.

So let's do it.

CidNight1142 04-18-2006 07:29 PM

It could work. Would be tough to enforce, however. The inclusion of EM's with pillory or player warp abilities could help to enforce the rules. (That would make them not so voluntary of course)

Zero Hour 04-18-2006 07:36 PM

That's a pretty good idea.

Draenin 04-18-2006 09:15 PM

Are you suggesting we monitor that sort of thing? If so, how?

It would be made by agreement among the kingdoms, so kingdom leaders and high-ranking kingdom members would have to enforce it.

Would be nice if there was a room or a big gmap that you couln't enter unless your AC/DMG/HP or whatever was below a certain ammount - and if it went beyond that while you were in the gmap you'd get booted. :)

Although that would be neat, it would defeat the use of the world in general as an RP stage. Why have castles to defend if we could only use our K-Mode in a seperate gmap? If we can do that, why can't we script a working K-Mode that works on the basis of tags, logs, TC, etc.

Waltz5 04-18-2006 10:06 PM

Only problem is that certain players would be losing out more than others. For example, a Str/Dex/Con stat on all your AC items. Some of which you'd be taking off to get your AC down.

And damage is hard as well... what if I only have prepped weapons?

garglius1 04-18-2006 10:10 PM

What sould be done is that whenever you have your kingdom tag on, your armor class, weapon class and damage all drop to a certain amount, but you are only allowed to hit people who are on tag, and only people who are on tag can hit you. If you want your stats to PK and the like, take your tag off and start PKing. The only thing is, that there should be a 5-10 minute time limit as to when you can put your tag on, so that people dont say /kingdom tag to run away from being PK'ed. This is just a suggestion and it can be worked on if necessary

Yeah, but the average guy doesn't have 30 dex anyways.

Better get a new weapon.

If it's something that requires staff intervention, then it would be better if they just made a Kingdom Mode.

That's pretty much what we call "Kingdom Mode"

Debaglio 04-19-2006 12:57 AM

K-mode.. hmm....

stat caps.

Let us start here;

1) If there is speed capping going on with items, that should be noted in item description.

2) Is it possible to go above 30 on any one stat.....

2a) if yes to 2) then this needs to be shown in the stat boxes.

3) Luck..... ok there should be a luck stat... because how do i really know if Aengus is giving me my extra +2...

Three issues is good enough for now. Lets discuss.

Now, either you didn't read the thread, or you just didn't understand it.

No.. i understand it... but I want to add a little to it, adressing these stat issues.

Besides.. I thought K-mode was aready imped.

CidNight1142 04-19-2006 02:05 AM

No, there is no K-Mode. And we're talking about reducing stats for kingdom battles, not increasing them. Allowing above 30 on any given stat is going in the wrong direction.

Torankusu 07-20-2006 07:27 PM

i recommended a kingdom mode back in like late 03. search it.

Sam 07-20-2006 08:27 PM

We already have a kingdom mode. Only leaders can enable it and it causes a b-mode to all members of that kingdom.

That's not what they are talking about.

They want, for role playing purposes, when engaged in rivalry Kingdom-Kingdom combat, they want all of those players stats to reflect their original class-stats (or natural stats). They don't want say, a sorc with 2 RoWs being better at physical fighting than a Barbarian. Nor, a Barbarian being able to kill sorcs with magic. They want a fighting chance when it comes to kingdom fighting, at least.

And for some reason our "Administrative" friends cannot see the flaws of the game because they don't play it like we do. This has always been the problem.

Yes indeed it's a problem. I know how hard it is, trying to play on GK. When I log on I am not able to walk, because of the amount of PM's. And I am just a trivial staff.

Uh, no. We want everyone to have equal stats.

what would be the point of that? no one would win unless you had a better connection. There's no strategy involved.

please don't act like you read and answer every one of them. You played the most when you wanted to level up your wisdom so you could bless and charge for it, not like you really had to work for anything anyway.

Don't take this the wrong way, which I can already tell you are. You guys don't seem to take suggestions for the game from players that actually play.

So there was no strategy involved in the battles on 2K1? Plus magic requires a lot of strategy.

Not really, assuming everyone had a relatively normal ping, it would come down to skill - number, and strategy.

those were fun though, we didn't have stats and magic. only swords and health.

Draenin 07-20-2006 09:40 PM

Limiting stats to your class is a bad idea, when you stop and consider that you can obtain skills from every class. Someone who started out as a warrior may be better with magic and so on.

Sam 07-20-2006 10:45 PM

I would like to see a class related max limit for kingdom mode.

Draenin 07-20-2006 11:03 PM

You can't switch classes at will. Do you not see the disaster that would happen if that were so?

Sam 07-20-2006 11:08 PM

I'm talking about that if a leader switches the kingdom to kingdom mode, the members will have a max power in all skills, like a cut at level 30. only in their class they will have a higher limit e.g. a warrior lvl. 50 in phys.
And they can only hurt and getting kiled by a enemie.

Torankusu 07-21-2006 11:37 PM

In kingdom mode, AC needs to be limited, because I know most people do not have over maybe -40 WC.

CidNight1142 07-22-2006 01:10 AM

If classes are used at all in a kingdom mode, they should not be based on original classes. Classes have been so useless for so long that almost no one actually does what their class is (unless they picked warrior).

Perhaps upon the activation of kingdom mode, leaders are allowed to designate individuals as certain classes, and have a limited number of each? So upon the opening of kingdom mode, if there are 10 kingdom members on, the leader is allowed 3 warriors, 2 barbarians, 1 thief, 2 sorc, and 2 priests or something. Then each of those individuals gets extra skills/powers/stat upgrades during that particular battle added onto the base kingdom mode flat level/stats/AC/WC/etc.

That's along the lines of what I meant by class-based statistics. But I was also assuming that Kingdom Leaders gave rank based on Class and performance of that stat.
