Gun Durability

Well, I don't like how the guns can't 'brake', although I don't know if this is the way to solve that.
We could make nice new 'rare' guns that don't break, but I'd like to know any other way around the mass amounts of guns being the same.
Obviously, I could add gun durability (After a certain amount of time, it'll begin to break) although I don't like doing the idea of this.
If you can think of any other way, please post here. If you think they shouldn't break, post here with a suitable answer. Your answer will not be 'laughed' at and it shall be taken at a serious level. Thanks

lordbosh 04-16-2006 04:56 PM

Gun prices are way out of profitable range for most guns. I believe that durability is probably the best way to solve this. Guns break, so should our guns. With the exception of the rare gang guns, the rest should break. This will get old things out of the economy and keep a constant demand. It will actually allow us to have a gun economy rather than rapid deflation of gun value.

Only Gun Owners could say such, but after I get my car, and a good gun, and around 3k, I don't work anymore. I have enough for gas, and ammo, and thats it. For me to sit in the mines would really piss me, and many others off.

Don't forget that all gun shop owners will be millionairs, leaving us others, poor as hell.

Era needs an economy so money is actually worth something.

Reset.
No joke.

I think if guns can break, we can repair them but they'll still wont be as good as a brand new gun but to repair it would be cheap. :)

warp2ukew 04-16-2006 09:59 PM

I think all the current guns should stay as they are, but with the release of big businesses on the horizon (Core, Neo Tech, Wraith Inc, PPA, etc) the better guns that they carry (Core=Artillery Cannon, Crizen, the unreleased stuff) will come at a higher price, and the current guns could get some sort of durability system.

k0rupt_ed 04-16-2006 10:17 PM

Melee's break, shovels break and now guns this is seriously getting retarded

KuJi 04-17-2006 02:05 AM

I think cleaning kits for guns would be a cool idea.
If you don't clean your gun, your gun can do less damage, or less acurate.
And you can only use 1 cleaning kit per time, and make the cost around 20$

Could take some money out of the economy. Just a thought.

k0rupt_ed 04-17-2006 02:37 AM

I agree, have something to take care of your gun rather than just waiting for it to break.

Henry5001 04-17-2006 05:37 AM

I think they could break down. If you don't repair they will
1. Load less ammo from boxes
2. Less damage
3. Maybe misfires so you freeze and take like .5

Maybe you could make a repair shop, you pay 10 dollars to lay your guns down and make like stocking except you're repairing your gun.
For example, you gun has detoriated a little bit: You walk into the repair shop, lay your gun down, and press A until you reach 25/25. However if you didn't repair it and it damages more then the number goes up so you might need to get 50/50 or 100/100

Exactly. Or Have a cleaning/ repair kit.

KuJi 04-17-2006 08:14 AM

Cleaning kit, I thought, would be a way to take more money out of economy, without flooding the mines up.

xAndrewx 04-17-2006 10:53 AM

Great, shouldn't be too hard to do.
Although, I did another poll on Era and no one agreed with it... x-x

Cubes 04-17-2006 10:59 AM

I should be able to repair my shovel :(

The411 04-17-2006 11:11 AM

Although I agree that this may bring the economy a bit more peace and balance, I also do see things from the average joe Eraqi player with $100 in his bank account used for loading his Metal Storm, and frankly, I'm going to guess that most players would rather drop dead, than to have to buy another Metal Storm.

However, Andy you could add this function until you see a decrease in gun numbers, then take it off and give guns a fresh start instead of Nerfing them all again.

Dude I love you.

Crono 04-17-2006 01:19 PM

Rather than buying the gun again, you should have the ability to get it fixed in playerbought shops. The shops would have to get material + "the skill" to repair a certain weapon. The more expensive the weapon, logically, the more expensive to repair it. If the player ignores repairing, THEN the gun will break and they have to buy a new one. This seems more fair.

Just another suggestion but what about gun tweaking? Custom ammo? For example some terrorist party might want stronger ammo for their ak47 because they're raving idiots and stronger ammo should = gun lasts less. This'll put the "fixed guns" solution in use as well.

Just a thought.

MrsMastermind 04-17-2006 02:03 PM

Most people work really hard for their guns. That's just like wasting 4k for Ap7's then the next day they break. Sweet, put this in now.

My fixing solution works around the problem of having to spend tons of money for a new gun. Reach people probably won't bother fixing and would rather just keep doing whatever until it breaks and simply buy a new one. People like me would rather fix, so they wouldn't have to spend 2k on an AK47 and such.

Celarion 04-18-2006 05:43 AM

Bad Idea

Seriously, I spent 40 game hours down in the mines listening to that crappy monotonic drilling noise just to get my first MK.
I did this because I liked the look of the people wandering around having gun battles in the streets.

There is already an economy in ammo. People always need ammo. Maybe not in the quantities that will make you gazillions immediately for owning a business, but that's why businesses are bought and sold. It's fun for a while, then you get bored of it.

The game is meant to be fun. If one select group has dominion over the rest it stops being fun for the rest, and unlike staying alive in reality, you can't force people to keep playing.

I can only think of two sets of people that would vote for this:

1) The people who already have 5 guns and think it would be novel to have more cannon fodder "noob"s wandering around without guns for a while.

2) Some of the people that don't have guns and think that somehow by making the guns break all the time the economy will improve and the price of guns will go down. Completely despite the fact that as demand rises, supply drops, price increases.

And even at the top of the food chain, I can't imagine them liking it forever.

I love Era, but I'm not sure I could handle having to do the mining thing again.

Please, don't implement this.

xAndrewx 04-18-2006 10:36 AM

Yea, I don't think I'll go ahead with it. :(
Thanks

Crono 04-18-2006 07:16 PM

God, implement the durability but add a fixing option. Fixing should be cheap and keeps guns in demand.

Bl0nkt 04-18-2006 09:16 PM

Reset.
No joke.
And this time around, we won't screw over Era's "economy" and leave some more popular guns to fewer people. Much fewer people.

xAndrewx 04-18-2006 09:57 PM

No, no more player resetting. :[
Players are sick of it. :(

Dude...pick flowers. I made 4k in around 6 hrs with them. Oh, off-topic...sry :D :spam:

Tom 04-19-2006 06:16 PM

I always found having to recharge and repair things rather annoying, but thats a personal opinion towards the subject.

When i have a gun, id rather be shooting and only worry about my ammo than the gun wanting to break after sometime, not many guns really do break over time, so its not bringing Era to an anymore realistic approach.

Raeiphon 04-21-2006 06:43 PM

Guns breaking? Having weapons and shovels imported from Korea was bad enough, you cheapskate.

hydralisk150 04-23-2006 02:06 AM

maybe, u should have parts of the gun break like the butt, or the barrel and other parts and have "parts" available to buy :)

nonononononononononononononoono
THAT'S A JENN IDEA SNAKE PLEASE DON'T.

Darklux 04-26-2006 11:48 PM

If guns should be able to break, then any gun.
Not only standart guns, but gang guns too. Gangs have many benefits right now, they shouldnt get an additional one.

I think: player shops get an automat to repair guns, they need to feed it with lead and iron and things regularly, so that its able to repair.
The players pay a fee for that repair.

So that it brakes less often, players can clean the guns with a kit.
That takes 20 seconds, and pushes the dur high again, but not to maximum.

The lifetimes of guns should be limited:
start dur: 100
after time it goes down to: 0
after repair, only 90 remains.
next repair: 80.. and so on.

Cleaning kits should be able to give back 5 dur, but it cant push the maximum dur up again.

When max dur is down to 0, the gun can be restored, in shops also. That should cost more, but could happen in the same machine.

Repair could cost 1/4 of mineral production cost,
Restore could cost 1/2. The shops may set the price for the repair freely.

When a 0 dur weapon is not repaired, it should break randomly while shooting, and shouldnt be repairable anymore then.

k0rupt_ed 04-27-2006 12:32 AM

And if that happens me and I believe half of era is leaving, thats rediculous.

defaultaccount 04-27-2006 08:22 AM
