Bring back Restore Food/Get rid of food

Argh
I cant stand having to sit there for 20 min getting water from a well to bring my food back up to 999.

My solution to this problem is ether bring back the Restore Food spell, or just get rid of the food aspect completley.
It serves no purpose but to piss people off by killing you...slowly...

After killing tons of baddies and one just happens to drop that glittering 500 plat from someone dying and dropping it, I run out of food. Oh no! After 10 min of desperatley running to the nearest well i realize...oh crap! I dont have a watering can!
I spen another 10 min running to the mines, getting a coal and iron bar, then 5 min running to bomboria and making a watering can.
Wheew.
Glad i fixed that...uh oh.
1 HP left.

The instant, I swear the instant, I reach the well *croak*
Im dead and warped all the way back to the haunted house.
Oh noes! A quick look in the inventory tells me i now only have 42 plat!

Well great.

That "Need-food-to-survive" thing helped out a lot.
I see no reason for it.

There are considerably more nutritious items available than water. Just a heads up. Water gives 5 food. "Food", which is dropped by shell bomies gives 100. Just a bit of a ratio for you.

LOL, was going to say. Why don't you go kill some wolves?

When I originally agreed that restore should lose the ability to restore your food it was on the pretense that your food meter decreased more slowly. And since then, if anything, it seems to be decreasing more quickly!

I guess it would be nice to either make it decrease more slowly or make Restoration add about 100-200 food.

Bingo

I agree, unless having Bile as a God, food just...goes down too quick.

I guess it's better to make food go down more slow, but also better to make the spell heal some food, rather than 999.

You think you have it bad? Some of us lose 5+ food per second if we're not at full hp/sp and not wearing a sustinence amulet.

Try starving your character for literally weeks.

Create food is a good remedy to the problem, but also a bad one if you aren't, say, level 40+ wis. I can make lots of lollies (candy) that restore 50 apiece, and those usually suffice.

CidNight1142 03-29-2006 03:48 AM

I'm level 17 wisdom and create food holds me over fine. But if I was losing food at 5 a second it probably would not.

Draenin 03-29-2006 03:56 AM

The central problem with restore is that it can cause battles to drag out for long periods of time. While it is helpful in maps or dungeons, it is particularly irritating when trying to facilitate sparring events or other things. I understand Ed's plight, as there is a major problem with regeneration. One such problem is that regenerating anything at all costs food, and when you have bonuses from gods and whatnot, it drains even faster, so if you were to fight someone with spells, the drain is even greater, because you may be regenerating lost HP, Mana, and Grace all at the same time.
