Mod makeover?

Personally, I think some of the mods have too much power. I think there should be some rules limiting their power more, so they can't make up rules on the spot, or close threads because they don't like em. I know this discussion is in other threads, however, I wanted a poll to find out if a majority disliked how things were being run. ^^ Enjoy!

(btw, I don't think this breaks any rules, so this poll should be open for quite a while.)

Minoc 03-15-2006 04:55 PM

No, that's a bad solution.

Excaliber feat. Don Quichote

WanDaMan 03-15-2006 05:10 PM

Bad idea.

Zero Hour 03-15-2006 05:49 PM

They're not making up rules on the spot. Besides, you coward - you might aswell say that you mean Darlene specifically, because you've not felt the wrath of Kamuii yet.

I think the mods are doing a fine job, specifically (in this case) Darlene. :\

Malinko 03-15-2006 06:04 PM

Erm, GraalOnline's Communication Center runs quite simple.

Read the rules, follow the rules.

If there is a complaint, use the GraalOnline Support Center stating what should be changed, the reason it should be changed, then a solution to have it changed.

You are just stating things are being run "bad" or too "strict", though failed to propose how it is. I do not see current forum moderators making up rules "on the spot". Rules can be derived or related to other rules, which covers the entire aspect, so what's the problem?

Wow, you know what? You absolutely refuse to understand that these forums are being run the way Unixmad wishes them to be run....are you scared to speak to Unixmad?
What you are doing here makes absolutely no difference what so ever, YOU ARE SPEAKING TO THE WRONG PEOPLE!
I really wish you would stop making these threads, trying to make it seem generalized, when you are doing it to attack me specifically.

I DO NOT make up rules on the spot, nor do any other Mod that I know of.
I DO NOT close threads because I personally don't like them...I use common sense, and judgement, not personal feelings.

But, you know what? Enjoy your poll, as you said "Enjoy"
I hope that this is very enjoyable for you :\
And, hopefully Unixmad doesn't decide to ban you ;)

"Enjoy" indeed..... ^^

Malinko 03-15-2006 06:18 PM

You go girl.

excaliber7388 03-15-2006 06:18 PM

I may have worded it wrong, but basically, I attempted to privide a solution to the overcensoring on these forums, and find out the public's oppinion of this solution. Or if you think that the censoring is a problem.

xAndrewx 03-15-2006 06:19 PM

Do you have a problem with Darlane being a GM?

Oh, so you are right back to the censoring issue....well, my post applies the same to that also....

I don't think it was worded wrong, I think it's not being understood.

You need to PROVIDE examples of what is considered "too strict". You are just mentioning "overcensoring", what is that? A public dicussion is alright on the forums, but if it's not done correct, then there is no use to even mentioning it.

Once again, I will mention, as Moon Goddess / Moonie has said. UNIXMAD CREATED THESE RULES. He made these rules for specific reasons and she will administrate these rules within the forums. READ the rules and FOLLOW the rules. If there is a problem, please, contact the GraalOnline Support Center, which the ticket will be assigned to unixmad or e-mail him at [email protected]. Do not create multiple discussions or threads about a problem when it doesn't exist. If it does exist, then as I said, provide the examples, explain the reason the examples are a problem, and propose a situation. The situation isn't to replace the moderators on the forums, it's so adjust the rules to fit the forums users. Just stop blaming the forum moderators for administrating the rules. Stop. Just stop it. So once again, read the rules, follow the rules. If there is a problem, state it, propose an adjustment, then we'll have a discussion.

Don't stroke.

I think the forums are running fine.
The iron fist moderation keeps the annoying ones out, the ones who already got past the first hurdle of paying for their accounts.

The Era Forums, however, are free...and doomed. Ah!

People whine because things that don't break rules still get deleted. That's the whole point. "holy crap"

protagonist 03-15-2006 09:06 PM

I voted yes, only because I don't think an effective forum can have be heavily scrutinized and still remain effective, by any moderator. At least, the moderators should have to only close threads that strictly and specifically violate a rule. Any rules about content should be added to the rules, not made on the spot.

I dunno but still, a global ban is a global ban, no matter if it is for a few days or forever, they tried to make an example out of him.

In fact, all you have to do is look through the forums, most closed threads were closed for questionable reasons I don't think I need to post more, you should get my point by now.

.....Sigh.....
Unixmad does not wish for homosexuality to be discussed on these forums....
Unixmad does not wish for complaints done and explained constantly to be on the forums (all done by the same people over and over on the same issues)
I mean, things can only be explained so much x_x

And I can tell the mods are getting tired of explaining them to you.

Even though I do agree with some of the things you are saying, nothing is really going to change. Just deal with it. And, if you can't, no one is really forcing you to stay.

So basically: Just stop.

That was not an attack on a religion, it was an attack on the ridiculous antics of its followers.

I know you keep saying that, Moonie, but I always though Unix was more professional than that :frown: God, this is like the time Stewie met Mother Maggie.

I might have forgot some stuff but i think this almost covers the flow of graal online that every user will eventually follow.

The red lines show shortcuts to the eventual End.

The black lines are the actual flow ;)

But my thread was more about Graal as a game and a business, rather than trivial aspects of the forum.

Let's face it, Darlene is going to make judgement calls sometimes, and you just have to live with that. She will try to say that they are unixmad's orders, but really, she makes the judgement call and then if someone complains she just asks unix and usually unix is going to agree with any rules she lays down.

That's how it worked when I was forum admin. Basically, the supermod/forum admin runs the roost.

I honestly don't see the need to be discussing sexuality on the graal forum either. So I'd have to side with Darlene on this one. It's not the fact that it's homosexuality, it's just sexuality in general. This is not the place for it, and all it does is cause problems anyway.

Pretty accurate, although there could be more catagories for thwe thread closed/deleted one :p It's funny how many people quit graal. Do you quit other games? Not often. People don't just say. I'm not gonna play ps2 anymore! But sooo many people quit graal. I've been playing for 5 years, and only recently (when I started using forums a lot) I have had no problems. Now, i see a connection. And what was Unix's reason against homosexuality? There's no good one.

He didn't find it appropriate for forums geared towards children....and I agree.
If this were a forum for adults, it might be different.

I find it odd that you wont even attempt to talk to Unixmad.

And kids can be homosexuals too, no s3x, that i understand, but sexual prefference? By the time kooties wear off, a person knows they're straight, or *** :\ so the 12 year old won't larn something new. After all, the word '***' is in a newspaper EVERY DAY, and a few times. Brokeback Mountain, transamerica, stupid protests (stupid kansas people) THIS is the world, they're NOT gonna learn anything new here. OMG! some people like their own gender, I never, in my 12 years of life learned THAT!!!

A kid can hear the F word being dropped at the local grocery store while shopping for popscicles, but that doesn't mean he should have to read it on these forums as well.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

So? The owner of Graal does not find it appropriate to discuss here, so discuss it elsewhere....big deal.

Absolutely right...just because we all know what kids hear/see/talk about, does not mean it has a place on these forums, or is appropriate for these forums.
I can't do anything about the other places, but I can here....

CidNight1142 03-16-2006 01:58 AM

Also, generally kids do not know if they are *** or straight by the age of 12. If you chat with some actual homosexuals I think you'll find the truth to be very different. Generally its a confusing battle between what you feel and what the societal constraints are. So really, no, I don't think your average 12 year old has reached the type of maturity to truly understand their own sexuality or the sexuality of others. Like Curtis said, take it elsewhere.
