a question

Would I be able to edit a head or body made that someone else made?
I want to do it for personal use but not sure if there are any legality issues.

All that which is provided by Graal Online servers (graphics) are property of Graal Online. So really, all you would be doing is giving them more property - go ahead ;)

But many people will get mad and go to PWAs, such as myself. My gfx are mine ya know? i hate it when I spend time for my friends or my place of work and somebody just decides to take the credit for it, or take some credit for it, it's wrong.
But yeah, its up to the artist of the original i think, maybe ask him first.

Using another gfx as a template and working from it to make something that is significantly different is usually cool.

Taking a head made by someone else, changing the eye color, and then claiming that you made it...probably will not be well liked by the community.

no no thats not what i mean i dont want credit for it i just want to edited to my liking, I'd never take credit for someone elses work.

I don't see why not if you don't attempt to claim credit. Any way to contact the maker of the original head and see what they think? They probably wouldn't mind and might even be flattered.

it's not up to the maker anymore...once it's posted on the forums or uploaded into graal, the gfx becomes linux cyberjours property or w/e...so you'd have to ask like unixmad, or someone like that i think...

I think they are talking about what is the moral thing to do. Like Stephen said, I don't think you'd actually have to ask Linux CJ if you were just giving the graphic back to them, anyway.

However, some servers have rules against changing a few pixels in graphics and uploading them as different files. You will have to consider this.

erm I think you're wrong on that one
otherwise anything anyone would want to show off in this little community of artists would be theirs

CidNight1142 03-01-2006 11:32 PM

Yeah, I'm almost positive that things posted on these forums is considered CJ property...if so...that would be a little ridiculous.

The way it works is yes, once a head or anything else for that matter is created it now belongs to graal, but just because it's part of graal doesn't mean some body can edit it... The art is owned still by the creater, they can do what they wish with it, such as take it from a server, put it on another, what ever. Editing work without the creaters permissions wrong and most of the time they most likely will get mad.
Asking always helps, that way they know you dont want credit for it and that you would just like to make it more suitable for your needs.
