pausing

It should go back to how it was where you could be hurt paused or take away pausing altogether. Only thing pausing does is cause tons of laming. Ever sicne Lance fixed that all i have seen is people laming with it. tons of kills over deaths which wouldnt normally be if they couldnt pause. It should be like GK where there is no pause and only no pk zones in specific areas

Kills equal out. Believe me, the server as a whole doesn't average more kills than deaths. That isn't possible. In fact, due to quests, I'm sure they average many more deaths than kills. But yeah, getting rid of pause would be stupid. Not everyone PKs. Laming goes with the territory.

Cubes 02-22-2006 08:26 AM

No I like pking *****s like victor that come steal your rocks >:O they pause and heal while your mining and then kill you and stela your rocks... victors a ****ing *****... that **** is a peice of **** what a ****ing *****

Androk2 02-22-2006 08:36 AM

Make it so that people with AP below 40 get hurt through pause. Problem solved.

So how am i suppsoed to stop people form stealing minerals. They come in attack pause andheal then wait ands attack again and if they kill me they pause so i cant kill them. You cant chase someone off when they invulnurable when paused

Nightmareangel 02-22-2006 11:06 AM

Indeed pausing is being abused in conjunction with the /sleep command. If it's not taken out altogether the least that could be done is maybe make it so you can't use the /sleep command while paused and or make it like someone suggested where you are still hit when below a certain amount of ap.

I second this.

And if the goddamn developers werent in such a hurry to get this out, they'd stick 6 lines of code that'd solve majority of the laming problems. #a is your friend.

kojicolnair 02-22-2006 02:17 PM

yeah i see what your saying but someone like me, that doesn't PK at all, i just pause when someone tries to hit me cause i hate PKing and refuse to engage in it. so taking pause out would ruin me.

Or use unstick while paused

Androk2 02-22-2006 04:14 PM

Unsticking while paused s used to escape you, healing and attacking again is the major problem here.

petro1212 02-22-2006 04:36 PM

Pausing in general could be disabled, but in return inside "houses" could be turned into nopkzones (this also goes for the start house, alot of laming is happening there. E.g you unstick me and 5 people with swords await you)

Pausing is also very abusive in quests, e.g you make the dragons follow you than pause and let the other people kill it (thats not how it was intended.. we might aswell have button bash quests than :P, Bomy Moon Quest)

So basicly,
the entire overworld being turned into a pkzone with the exception on the already "nonpkzones". It would be horrible to have pkers outside of the bakery..

Having each and every inside level being turned into an area where you can't use (kungfu/sword/other weapons) and cannot hurt eachother. This might also be handy for quests but that depends on what the majority likes. Its horrible when you'r trying to do "Stefan's Quest" and suddenly everyone starts pking cause one person hurt them and they must get their revenge.

It wasn't the developers. It was Stefan.

Cubes 02-22-2006 07:17 PM

-_- just disable it please.... I hate it when people go and steal your stuff or slash you and pause over and over

FFusion 02-22-2006 07:29 PM

Yeah, being immune while paused should be remove. Gives more purpose to playerhouses.

Chris 02-22-2006 07:57 PM

Just disable /sleep while paused?

Cubes 02-22-2006 08:00 PM

make it so if your paused you have to wait 30 seconds after you unpause to unstick so people cant unstick while paused

Loriel 02-22-2006 08:09 PM

The ability to turn invulnerable instantly at no cost is a major factor in the combat system.
Considering that bomies already possess a similar though not quite identical ability, it disadvantages them by reducing the usefulness of this ability. Other than that it might be argued that a battle where timing invulnerability is the deciding factor is a lot less fun than one that depends on traditional Graal combat prowess.

The simplest solution is to disable pausing completely. This would annoy people who legitimately use it to achieve a reasonable level of safety while shortly not paying attention to Graal, for whatever reason. However, this risk should be accepted by players, as a large part of Graal is about fighting and playerkilling and monsters. Migitating this risk, though, is possible by making use of the safe zones (noplayerkilling) spread through Graal.

Alternative options include limitting the usability of pausing, perhaps by introducing a "cooldown" that prevents pause from being used more than n times in a certain timespan, or a delay before pause, once activated, becomes effective. Coupled with weakening the player in these situations (taking double damage, being unable to move for five seconds afterwards, ...), this might make pausing unusable as a combat strategy.

ApothiX 02-22-2006 08:27 PM

If pause is not going to be disabled, then there certainly needs something to be done about bomys being able to get hit while paused. I'm pretty tired of people trapping me using that pushable object in the start house, then killing me and stealing my gralats while I'm paused.

kojicolnair 02-22-2006 08:34 PM

Taking pausing out would take out the only way for people like me, that doesn't pk at all, to get protection from the crazy people that are too lazy to work and go after people with money.

I think it is unfair of you to put down alternative playing styles like this; also I do not believe that anyone at all is efficiently making money by exclusively tracking down and killing rich players.

You should probably learn to defend yourself, you are equipped with fighting abilities because you are supposed to do that. If you want the game to be designed to make killing people who do not want to be killed impossible, because you are too lazy to take care of yourself, playerkillers might as well argue for insta-kill buttons so they can actually kill people before they get a chance to press pause to avoid dying.

Have something a bit more surprizing, you can pause, but as soon as you type the sleep command you unpause automaticly, preventing someone from laming as much, because they then have two options.....

Run away far enough that you CAN rest without worry...

Or just suck it up when the person you want to PK whups you into shape instead and finishes destroying you pride with a well timed "Owned" ^^

kojicolnair 02-23-2006 12:40 AM

theres really no way to stop it, if you get rid of pause theyll just run into the water and theres no way to stop that.
