Discussion: World War II Server
 

Hello there!

While browsing Servers, I found that there are no servers with one of the WorldWars as topic, though WorldWar games are quite common in Videogame Industry.

Why do you think it is like that?

People fear publishing unethic content?
People fear hurting other players feelings?

This is just a discussion and brainstorming.

I think as the WWII is a part of worlds history, Graal could be a medium to tell young childen and young people about,
and made right, it could be a good addition to the current graal playerworld list.


What do you think about it?

I beg that noone posts off topic, since iam really interested what will come outa this..

It's been expressed that since they are done so well why should it come to Graal? Personally, even though I'm a huge WWII buff (I do WWII Living History's and have tons of gear from the times), I probably wouldn't play a WWII Graal Server unless it was a 3d one.

Second, I think the overall Graal community is very immature.

Third, Graal is not really the right place in my opinion to give a history lesson to kids.

I think that any server that could successfully form some sort of on-going war system that was player based or maybe even player run would make a very fun and addicting server. I don't think that it has to be WWII based. But, whatever floats your boat.

Yeah, i posted a long while ago about such an idea, and designed loads of stuff for it, and Borstal picked up on the idea and has started to develop it.

Although, it would rule if we followed the real paths of the war and all working together to destory Hitler?

I honestly don't think it would work. Anyone that is actually serious enough to care about the accurate history would go to a much better game, no offense intended to Graal.

Perhaps, but I don't like the idea of certain players playing as nazis.

Yes, that would be awkward.

And you can't have a historical WWII server without Nazis.

The idea seems really good, but probably won't work well on Graal.

Even though that is somewhat accurate, without the 'leet' speak, I don't think we have room to tolerate that behaviour. It'd be encouraged to take sides, and have a dislike for another side, but religious and racial discrimination is not part of the idea in this server.

The majority of Jews were not killed in war, but in the Holocaust, and this server is specifically about the War.

I think its possible to keep players insulting anything online in a permanent jail.

The idea of having a server based only aroundWW2 is not fun. What Borstal is cooking up takes a key stroke part of that and combines it with other fun things. And tom i had this kind of idea a way long time ago but never did nothing to it nor expressed it.

Id play a ww2 server :D if it was anywhere near accurate

I tried to make a subtle joke, that's not so subtle, where I implied that the server would not be allowed because one of the GMs is in fact German. It was one of thsoe thing you'd smile at but wouldn't know if you should laugh out loud or not.

But so that this is not considered spam, in order for this to work you'd have to have a loose map of the oevrworld with capturable points, selection of side when aperson begins and a non stop combat for point controls. Although it migth be a betetr idea to have scheduled combats to attract mroe attention.

Just my 2 cents.

Yeah of course germany has luckily lost, that nazis are playable in some games doesnt mean they have to win the war.

It would be nice to see a playerworld idea that isn't done better in 3 other major games for once...

For such a server, i have an awesome idea for a shooting system, instead of shooting in only 4 directions ^_^
