Other classic PWs get forum?

Obviously it would only be fair. Please do not close this thread as it does not break the rules. Thanks.

I agree with that.

-Ching 02-07-2006 02:28 AM

Same

napo_p2p 02-07-2006 02:43 AM

Agreed.

Though the management of the playerworld should probably request a forum first before they are made.

OasaTor_PK 02-07-2006 03:04 AM

I must say, Era gets a special forum? Last time I checked UN had a higher playerbase than era does. So why does ERA get a special privelige? Maybe they payed off someone, who knows.

I'm thinking it has a lot to do with the fact that many Era higher-ups are globally known and have easier access to Stefan and other global staff.

Malinko 02-07-2006 04:50 AM

Well at one point, on the GraalOnline Communication Center, all playerworlds had a forum, but it was quite inactive.

I guess other playerworlds could request one, but Stefan does work on Era, as well as Graal2001, Kingdoms, and Zone, so I guess that makes it "official".

I was going to say this. :frown:

Damix2 02-07-2006 06:03 AM

Also Era was pretty much the only one using the wiki to post news

True. Other worlds should use the GRAAL BIBLE to post news as well.

Why there?
http://www.graalonline.com/

excaliber7388 02-07-2006 06:12 PM

They should have to request it, and there should be somethig about a minimm number of players per day, to make sure they stay active (or multiple requests from forum users) Otherwise, it's not fair x_x

I don't really know why you guys are complaining though, have you even attempted to ask Stefan if your Classic Playerworld could have a subforum on the Communication Center?

Mykel 02-07-2006 08:55 PM

As long as other servers get a forum upon request then I don't really see a problem.

Flares 02-07-2006 09:47 PM

Yeah, Era got it because they asked. UN could have one, but probably would not want one. UN has had privately-run forums that are a lot more loose than the official forums since the server's debut, and I would bet they want to continue that. (Although, UN hasn't had a forum since MysticalDragon's closed and Graalpeople was destroyed.)

As long as any server can have a forum, I am all for it, although I don't think every server should have one if they don't want it.

excaliber7388 02-07-2006 09:50 PM

What about hosted, and dev servers? I not sure they have enough of a player base to need a forum, however, if they did have enough players, then it would be understandable.

Darklux 02-07-2006 10:31 PM

I dont think stefan has soo much time to invest into era that it can be really count as official playerworld,
atleast every classic playerworld should be treated the same.

Yeah, there isn't a real reason to call Era an official playerworld. And by player base, UN does have more. So, it should be strictly limited to Classic playerworlds if they want a spot on the official forums. I know at least a handful of them will not, but it is nice to be able to have a forum if you cannot provide for one yourself.

The thing is, he has invested a lot of time.

Obviously not enough time for it to be considered anything but Classic. Although, I do know that he did do a lot of work on Era.

No one is arguing that Era should be the only one with the privelage of a forum spot, I don't believe.

Bl0nkt 02-07-2006 11:34 PM

Deal with it.

We don't have to worry about that. Every server gets a forum upon request. Nothing to argue about. But thanks for your positive addition to this thread.

There are so many Development servers that it would be waste of space, rather just have Hosted & Classic would probably be better.

Or maybe we could have a forum for just hosted playerworlds, and 2 people from each Hosted server would get Moderator rights in the Hosted forum.

excaliber7388 02-08-2006 03:06 AM

If the servers (classic servers that is) get a forum uppon request then it's fair. ;) otherwise, era shouldn't get special treatment (not that I'm saying it is ;)...)

DIABLO2099 02-08-2006 04:11 AM

It wasn't too long ago when all the classic playerworlds had their own forum and 2 staff members were chosen as moderators...but no one used it and it was taken away, if you have a hosted pw and want a forum you should get a free one and just put it in your signature and refer people to it when you post..classic pws should get one upon request to be fair i suppose

That shouldn't be made purely for fairness.
It should be done as to whether or not they will be used. I think practically all, if not all, have perfectly fine forums and anything here wont be used - but these are now the only official Era forums. Yes Era had some, but no longer do according on the managers as they no longer consider it the official one.

I don't think a single playerworld online on Classic would actually have many posts in their forums at all to make it worth it. All PWs can add news to the wiki for now, which will be linked to the front page sometime - so they can still promote their playerworld that way.

Stefan works on whatever playerworld he's needed on. He's done it for my playerworld and I'm sure many others. It's a service provided with the product. Era is higher maintenence and has a substantial player population, so it generally has more time with GraalOnline's technical staff.

One would think the only "official things" would be those which GraalOnline manages directly and markets as a centrepiece product, such as the 'Gold' wing of servers or Graal3D, which require an additional periodical subscription. Traditionally, GraalOnline's global servers were Main server, Newmain server, and arguably Project Newworld, from which NewMain sprung. These servers all were managed directly by the global team and were marketted (although for many years Main server was free) as the centrepiece products ("Main", "Newmain" ?).

Malinko 02-08-2006 06:26 PM

I didn't mention that all "official" worlds are Gold?

When I mean, official, I mean that he works on there as an average staff member within the world. Of course I know Stefan helps out a lot of worlds upon request, though Stefan does seem to work close with Skyld, as well as the former Manager, Rick of Era making decisions with them as a "joint management" of the world.

I don't agree with how Shaun speaks that since Era is a high count that is tends to have more attention, that's not the case at all. Look at Unholy Nation, it's not "official" is it? Stefan is currently helping with a hunting job there, but other than that, I don't think he works there in general as he does with Era, Kingdoms, and Zone.

Official servers are beyond your jurisdiction, don't forget that.

TheJames 02-09-2006 01:10 AM

I guess Era's special. Or some **** like that :)

_Zelph 02-10-2006 12:25 PM

I find it appropriate for Classic playerworlds to host their own forums, both because the post count wouldn't warrant having a separate section on the GraalOnline forums, and because they would have the freedom to promote the website/forums and integrate it with other content that's related to the server.

UN has a website currently under construction. In addition to forums, it will have everything else you'd ever need to know about what is on the server. Doing this will offer a lot more functionality and potential than anything else.

Not to mention that a URL like www.unholygraal.com would be a lot more attractive.
