Graal Hammer;

Ok, well i wanted to work on something that may have a small impact towards the graal community, and possibly help a few people. So i thought up "Graal Hammer", which is what i named my little organisation.

Basically, Graal Hammer is a player based system, which helps globally, even the smallest of things, like someone scamming someone else, Also having a database which is manually added of different players, all the details which we are allowed to give out, and their past offenses and what server they did the offense on and such.

So it's basically global police, just player ran and we don't have direct powers, but can create connections to admins or such on certain servers.

Graal Hammer will also have account sign ups so people can create their own portfolio of work, so if a server owner is looking for a scripter, they just go to the player portfolio section and change the search settings to "Scripters;" And it will bring a list of scripters and their work which they wish to show.

And the same goes for LATs, Graphics Artists and so on.
And also playerworld advertisments, even though we have the forum here, a few playerworld adverts might entise some people.

And i thought, well this seems to be a small community idea, so why not make a graal hammer radio? So now that's also going to be on the website.

Now this is a reasonable ammount of work to get this done, but i think it's possible and will be fun, so if your interested in helping create graal hammer, or have some ideas you'd like to contribute to graal hammer, then please say :)

Thanks for reading.

Sounds awesome, I'm definitely in on it.
An IRC channel wouldn't go amiss.

Such an idea is subject to abuse. You can't ensure the reliability of given data.

Tom 02-05-2006 05:43 PM

It would only be information such as, account, known names and maybe IP list.

Okay, although I'm not sure an IP list is such a sensible idea. Some people do not like the idea of having their IP listed in public places because it allows people to trace their location, and initiate Denial of Service attacks. There will always be people out there who spoil the fun and cause trouble.

Tom 02-05-2006 05:54 PM

Yeah, i was actually thinking of IPs because people change their Ips sometimes, and it could help some servers remove someone. But i will scratch the public IP list.

I think the information we will keep public, is a description of past offenses as stated above, their account names, if they have more than one, and known names.

Crono 02-05-2006 06:33 PM

So if I can **** on a server you people will write me down? I don't like the idea of having my name listed for saying **** or ****. Yes they are *'s, how you process them in your head is a different story.

Zero Hour 02-05-2006 06:45 PM

"I can't believe that fudger would scam me, let's get his IP from Graal Hammer and DDoS him >: ["

CidNight1142 02-05-2006 07:29 PM

I'm a particularly larger fan of that whole "search for developers" idea there. Have people have their name in there as a database with things like past experiences, perhaps some example of their work, whether or not their looking for work, could really help people find the developers they need, and could allow developers get multiple offers and pick and choose which server they would like best to work with.

Minoc 02-05-2006 08:02 PM

Global GPs would be better.

Tom 02-05-2006 08:05 PM

Yeah;
I might totally scrap the IPs part totally, it's a high risk. And i doubt we'd put in the database that you swear lol.

Graal hammer will most likely end up doing the developer search mainly.

/open account

IP.

Wheeeee

Tom 02-05-2006 09:41 PM

But not everyone would be staff to be able to say /open account, But if its on a website, it's open to all ^_^

protagonist 02-05-2006 10:03 PM

Your IP is public anyway. If anyone really wanted to DoS, then they could, easily. But it's still not a very accurate way of keeping track of people.

Warcaptain 02-06-2006 03:19 AM

Sounds like a bad idea to me.

If anyone should do this it should be the GMs. Having a band of players that have that kind of power (if you were ever able to get it) is like creating a graal lobbyist organization (seriously.. you're brittish.. you MADE the language use it right) So.. I say a big no to this.

If Stefan or Unixmad wanted to create such an organization.. go for it and I would love to be involved.. but as for giving power to a band of power hungry players.. I say a big big no.

-Ching 02-06-2006 03:23 AM

It'll never happen

Variant: also British or·ga·ni·sa·tion

Warcaptain 02-06-2006 03:31 AM

My apologies

GryffonDurime 02-06-2006 03:42 AM

If such a developer classification system was made, I'd prefer to see it administrated by Graal's Globals rather than players.

Same.

Assuming they have RC, and can "/open", it's very likely (excluding Era, UN, and N-pulse) that they're responsible enough to have it.

A global police radio would be cool. Like maybe a teamspeak channel?

Maybe there could be a better way than listing IPs.

We all know for a fact that there IS alot of corrupt staff on these servers.
And in all honesty, we don't know the capabilities of other players of the game.
For all I know, I could get ban. IP listed - some GP guy might hate me for something I did personally to him - BAM Revenge and no one would ever know.

Tom 02-07-2006 03:38 PM

At least we now have ideas flowing, even though this may not work. And i do agree that such a developer listing would be better ran by globals.

Also, on the policing side, no one gets actually powers, we have to follow the certain server rules and speak with the police chief and such, but scrap the police idea.

alissalee 02-08-2006 04:13 PM

sounds cool could i help out if i can send me a email ok

Warcaptain 02-08-2006 04:49 PM

uhm.. why do this?

graal.net already has a skills profile that enables players to list all experience they have for developers to view.

Check it out sometime before you go posting to start stuff that already exists ;)

alissalee 02-08-2006 07:05 PM

Read the thing agan it is about wat they can do for staff and there ofences

Elk 02-08-2006 08:28 PM

I am for Global GP

excaliber7388 02-08-2006 11:51 PM

It would be a place to look when you're hiring for your server, that way you could find people who just want to work for a server (like those sites you post your resume on, and employers look there, etc)

CidNight1142 02-08-2006 11:54 PM

Since the emphasis of the site idea has shifted from the global police force thing to a development search database, I'd suggest a name change.
"Development 'R' Us!"

Antago 02-09-2006 12:29 AM

It would not be a bad idea to have a database of offenses.

Shiftk03- 02-09-2006 01:50 AM

Sounds like a bunch of kids logging onto playerworlds with tags, pissing off staff for no reason. The database idea seemed alright.
