"illegal operation"
 

im using windows 98
ive recently been having this problem, after a new update everytime i try to open up v4 a window pops up, "This program has performed an elligal operation and will be shut down".

I also tried deleting my whole graal folder then download a new setup. i managed to get to acc screen then server selection just fine, but after the updated, it freezes my computer. it has always done this, so i gotta restart my computer. after its started up againt i try opening graal it gives me that msg..

ummm v4 not working on my sistesr cpu now either.
its also a windows 98... maybe its not just me and theres somehing with v4 and 98?

What graphics card do you have? It's 99% the graphics card driver.
Also could you post graal4console.log here?

i had an ATI but my friend figured his old geforce4 would work better so he gave it to me.
and other games ummm i dont really play anything else. i mean v4 use to work, ever since the update its screwed up... v2 works just fine tho... but yeah its goan be disabled soon. :( anyway you dunno whats wrong?

Tried to update the driver? Some other people had problems with some recent Nvidia driver too, which has been fixed by updating again.

Ok try downloading the latest version from the website, and install.
Somehow your Graal4.exe has been corrupted, that's why that error message.
You said that error only started after updating the version via serverlist ? Do you have disk compression or something similar running?

hmm i just downloaded it again after deleting my graal folder. i didnt even get to the log in screen it just did hte error...
uhhh im not sure, i dont know what disk compression is so could be :P..

The installer / setup worked fine ?

well it installs fine but when its done i get a pop up was not able to start graal4.exe, so im guessing thats when it gets corrupted

Hmmm it corrupts the exe when copying the file it seems. Don't know why though, but it shouldn't be a problem. Just copy the Graal4Setup.exe into the Graal folder and rename it to Graal4.exe.

edit* ugh, i was on the new server graal bomy land and after like 30 mins it stopped responding then i started gettin the illegal opperation again :whatever:

edit2* well i was just trying out stuff and my graal froze cuz i unclicked bitmat fonts cuz i couldnt see text after like 20 letters. it just dissapears, but if i put old fonts on my graal corrupts

well im 99% sure its the disable bitmat font htat corrupting my graal. i dont think it was hte update but i think i turned bitmat fonts off to see the text for the update.

the problem is that when its on, after like the 20-30 letter w/e me or anyone else sais dissapears.... so i gotta turn em off, but when i do it freezes and corrupts my graal, so i gotta delete the folder reinstall it... dunno if this problem has been resolved befor maybe? but it kidna sucks :s

GeForce4 series is known for being very unstable with older versions of the Windows Family.
