Kingdoms Warmode

So that fair RP wars can be guaranteed, there should be a kingdoms warmode for real RPwars, that gives everyone stuck hp/grace/mana/speed/ac/wc.

That would make wars much more fair, and having two lvl 60 phys guys wont decide the wars anymore.

Admins 01-17-2006 02:37 AM

We are working on the new hit-object functions where we can configure everything (making everything scriptable), then that should be possible.
It is probably not easy to find perfect rules for a kingdom war though, some spells that are affecting a large area but are not doing high damage would still give the same damage and then eventually messing things up. Should we also configure what spells people can use?

Draenin 01-17-2006 04:02 AM

Configure prayers to priests only and spells to sorcerers only. If this is ignored, expect me to rant about it in the future. It won't be pretty.

GryffonDurime 01-17-2006 04:40 AM

Yeah, base it off class at last!

Maybe Alchemists can use some Sorcerery, too

Butz 01-17-2006 04:40 AM

Well, the problem comes up when you've got someone playing a character that doesn't match their class. There should be some way in the Kingdom GUI to designate what kind of soldier a person is, so if they started as a warrior, but Roleplay a Mage, they're not limited to Warrior stuff.

Perhaps something like this though:

Warrior:
100 HP
30 SP
20 GP
Speed: 1.5
Melee Damage: 12
Able to use spells and prayers of Level 1-3

Barbarian:
150 HP
0 SP
0 GP
Speed: 1.7
Melee Damage: 17
No Magic

Sorcerer:
70 HP
150 SP
30 GP
Speed 2.0
Melee Damage: 3
Able to use all spells, and prayers of Level 1-5

Priest:
80 HP
30 SP
150 GP
Speed 1.9
Melee Damage: 6
Able to use all prayers, and spells of Level 1-5

Alchemist:
85 HP
50 SP
50 GP
Speed 1.8
Melee Damage: 7
Able to use spells and prayers of Level 1-6

Thief:
75 HP
50 SP
0 GP
Speed: 2.5
Melee Damage: 9
Able to use trap spells (runes)

Why...do warriors and barbarians have the lowest speed and melee?

They do the highest damage.
They're the slowest, because they generally wear more armor.

Casters are generally found in cloth, which allows for more mobility.

Oh so high melee damage means...lower damage?

ReBorn_Spirit 01-17-2006 04:49 AM

I'm going to object to your idea of making everyone in a kingdom follow certain HP/MP and other caps in war.

It limits the RP of leveling and defeats the purpose of leveling up to be effective in fighting. If you want yoru kingdom to be good, TRAIN you members dont be lazy.

This Training of your members adds to the RP cause of Graal Kingdoms.
Without training it is not realistic, but something that belongs to Zone. If you havent check Kingdoms is not a classic server with 20 max health and a set speed, nor is it spawn happy and fair.

You need to get used to the fact that everything is not fair. But things should not come easy. Like leveling up to 107 with mental scrolls. That should be considered cheating if you ask me.

Damix2 01-17-2006 04:50 AM

With that system, warriors would lose everytime.

It's a function of a game, not cheating. Get used to it.

Alchemy should really only be usable by alchemists. -_-

Without a fair system like this, nobody will bother going to war, since right now, a single person can wipe out an entire army. If people want to show off their power and levels, they've got PKing and Arenas for that. The purpose of a Kingdom mode though, is a chance to make wars fair, strategic, and overall, fun for everyone involved. It's not very fun when a single person kills three soldiers in a single swing.

With a fair system, a kingdom loses because it is either undermanned, disorganized, or its opponents have a better strategy, not because they didn't spend hours grinding levels.

Hmm, I suppose so. Perhaps switch their speed with Barbarians, to make up for Barbs higher HP. I thought being able to cast minor spells would help a Warrior, but I dunno. Talk about it, that's what the thread is for.

CidNight1142 01-17-2006 05:05 AM

I agree with the K-Mode. Unlike in real life, losing an RP war is still supposed to be fun. That can very easily be changed by a kingdom just sending out their lvl 110 to level entire armies. Thats why boat wars are so popular, theyre completely skill based and the two opponents are atleast fairly even at the start.
And response to Dayaa, you can train your members. Train them to be either better fighters, or better planners. Just like in the real world, you can be a great soldier, or a fine general, or an impressive lieutenant.

Draenin 01-17-2006 05:28 AM

Dayaa, training people to roleplay does not mean teaching them to use OOC brackets and strictly stuff like that. We have game mechanics right now that limit us in our ability to be the character we want to be, and I see it as a problem. So don't act like nothing is wrong and nothing needs changing, because both you and I know that it does.

ReBorn_Spirit 01-17-2006 05:36 AM

You have no idea really, think about it once. Make everyone the same level for what?? So kingdoms never fight again?? Maybe I should shut up, but this is one of the idiot ideas that I find on the Forums. Go find something worth while then get a few ideas from it and then evolve those ideas. Kmode... pfft..

Draenin 01-17-2006 05:38 AM

Were you even around when it existed?

ReBorn_Spirit 01-17-2006 05:43 AM

Does that even matter now??

Were you there when the Nighthawks fell?? Not that anyone even cares anymore, but it tought me that some people dont care.

Draenin 01-17-2006 05:45 AM

You have a VIP account, Dayaa. Just remake it, talk to the developers about getting stuff fixed up for it, and be on your merry way. If kmode goes into effect, perhaps Nighthawks could actually serve a purpose. ;)

Raziel 01-17-2006 05:46 AM

Leveling in RP would be training. I mean seriously, are all warriors the same? No, some are much stronger, faster, and smarter than others. Some are skinny cowards. Which one are you? It partly depends on how much you train (level). When it really comes down to it, you're weak because you want to be. I'm sure if you spend some time to go out and (train) you will see things in a new way. I'd say that's more fair than restricting everybody to a set amount of hp, speed, blah, blah.

Btw, what about fat sorcerers and whatnot, you know? Let's not discriminate. So, a warrior in heavy armor might still be faster.

If the leveling system of GK wasn't horribly broken (ie. 1million+ exp to next level, diminishing experience on monster kills, +1 enchants every 10 levels, ungodly AC and WC), then maybe training through level up would be a viable option.

OasaTor_PK 01-17-2006 05:51 AM

I am all for this set HP ect. It would really make wars fun, other then watching out for 2 or 3 people who are able to 1 shot you. To level your character through RP, you should have to earn it, by say sparring an npc knight once you have achieved a certain amount of honor.

Draenin 01-17-2006 05:52 AM

What you're meaning is that leveling does influence roleplaying and whatnot, but you must also pay attention to the fact that people have weapons that allow them to take out 98% of a kingdom's population with one swipe. If you don't believe me, I ask you please to have a duel with King Snow.

The only problem with kmode is that it nullifies the idea of leveling as a factor in fighting, but if you keep things the way they are, you have to deal with a levelling system that is horribly flawed and only allows people that are either very rich or that glitch to level up. Take your pick.

Kmode is the quick fix. Fixing the experience curve is the permanent fix.

And this would leave us needing a reset, which we all know will never happen. Thus the k-mode becomes the only fix it appears.

Actually, it is the alternative to a reset. See my past explanation of fixing the experience curve for more details.

Splke 01-17-2006 06:39 AM

There's no fair way to say this, but you have to comprimise on either a level scale, or an RP scale.

KINGDOM WARS SHOULD INVOLVE RP AND RESTRICTED RULE GROUNDED FIGHTING

PKing should be done on your own time and should not interfere with RP of Kingdoms.

That's pretty much the comprimise you'll have to make. If it divides the server, so ****ing be it. But if it makes the server better.. well then, there you go. You've actually found a way to get rid of the unfair advantage people get by USDing / Glitching and made Kingdom's an actual legit RP server (in some form, or sense).

Revamping Kingdoms will take more then just suggestions and empty promises though, this I'm not sure Stefan knows.

ReBorn_Spirit 01-17-2006 07:00 AM

The only future purpse I have in mind for Nighthawks is a town on Forest, besides that, Samurai leaders after Empress Lyndzey have not wanted my old isle there.

Draenin 01-17-2006 07:01 AM

Mr. Knorr's concern for kingdoms, I think, is some type of new innovation that will inevitably screw things up more because he's stacking more things onto the pile of complications Kingdoms has.

On an aside...

It's probably because it doesn't have anything going on in it anymore.

ReBorn_Spirit 01-17-2006 08:36 AM

Oh there was, but the incopetent leaders of the time could not udnerstand its purpose... Sorry about this, but its somewhat true. Though I should not say it.. I mean no offense to anyone reading this...

I shall see what I can do.. to turn NH into some town that can be put to use, perhaps a hunting lodge or something like area on Forest that will be in a nice dark forest.

I don't know about him but I would flip a **** if that happened because all these people spent all this time leveling just to find out they wasted their time leveling to 107 phsy.... You can form three sentences without adding some vulgar insult of kind. Amazing.

GK is not being about leet. GK is not about the loot. At heart, GK is an RP server. And as much as you idiots take pride in your pathetic pixel equipment achievements, the more GK's RP will slowly fade away, until we become a Zone with spells instead of bullets.

And at the rate it's going, it's going to end up like this.

And no they dont deserve to be able to take out half an army of equally strong players. Infact, they deserve about as much as a level 1 does - the right to enjoy the game and to be kind to each other. And I dont even see the enjoyment anymore.

Kmode would be a godsend. Wars where players of equal or average level could fight each other in a war they would enjoy, not be thrashed by some level 107 ***** in full +122717217217272 bile gear or whatever.

My solutions in a nutshell:
Enforced RP
Kmode
Listen to the sentinent players

sage_scooby 01-17-2006 03:11 PM

I think the K-mode is a great idea.

I would limit K-mode to events and such only, so people cant walk around in it all day. Then it wont effect the PKers as it would only be used for kingdom battles and RP events. The PKers could still kill people just as they would normally. Peoples maxed levels wont be wasted.

Butz 01-17-2006 04:15 PM

So many people are bringing up the claim that K-mode battling will stop wars from happening because people will think their levels are wasted.

Tell me this then:

How can it reduce the number of wars occuring, if the current number of wars occuring has been 0 for quite some time.

If anything, a fair fighting system for war will INCREASE the number of wars.

Darklux 01-17-2006 04:36 PM

Iam happy to gain this much response on this quick idea but please calm down and stop cussing about the main system, the world and anything in this posts and stay on topic: k-mode x-x

ApothiX 01-17-2006 04:42 PM

If kmode is introduced, there should be some kind of way to level your RP Character because like Oasa said, not everyone is the same. Also, kmode shouldn't be allowed on the Main Island, it should be strictly for Kingdom Islands, or during wars only.

OasaTor_PK 01-17-2006 04:55 PM

To get your ROLEPLAY character updated, there will be a staff member who does an event each week, a ROLEPLAY EVENT. Depending on your involvement/skill honor will be distributed. This will be done by a honest staff member, most likely Bjorn, or Stefan.

Cubes 01-17-2006 05:07 PM

Sorry about all the vulgarness in my previous post..... me being intoxicated while talking doesnt go good... but anyways

I've given them a break during the change in leadership. I also want a chance to discuss politics with the new leader.

The classes should be decided by what rank you are in the kingdom, IMO.
