High Level Scrolls

Some people sell spell rolls that have a extreme high mental level, i think they give quite alot exp when you read them.

Spells should have a standart level and player created rolls should get that standart level too x-x... like that its just another way to level up

Draenin 01-09-2006 10:06 PM

Do you have any idea at all how long it would take you without being able to read higher-level scrolls to get to the mental level for any decent exp-giving alchemy recipes? Give me a break.

Damix2 01-09-2006 10:08 PM

This is not a bug, but an intended function. If you get to a high level, you get benefits, I see that as fair.

Draenin 01-09-2006 10:13 PM

Agreed. It's like saying that people able to bless to high levels is unfair if they have high wisdom.

ReBorn_Spirit 01-10-2006 02:24 AM

Is it fair to pay a 110 level person about 10k to get you to level 50 in a day though??

**From a level under level 10

It take a lot longer then you think.

CidNight1142 01-10-2006 02:53 AM

It does actually. I'm in level 9 mental and bought 60 scrolls from Fr0. I am still level 9 mental.

You have to read 'em too, y'know.

High level players bless high.
High level players make kickin' scrolls.
High level players EA high.
High level players, generally, kick ass and take names.

I'm noticing a pattern here.

Its not like at the beginning of the game we choose high or low. We do have to work for levels, and for our work we get benefits.

Really? Wow. lol, yes I read them. All I'm saying is it takes alot of scrolls to really significantly raise your level. They only cost 10 for a diamond.

Butz 01-11-2006 02:00 AM

Well, they only cost that much because that's what people are charging for them. The scrolls themselves only cost the people making them from 2-8 plat really.

It costs a lot more than 10K.

ReBorn_Spirit 01-11-2006 09:33 AM

The only problem is, that Mental EXP only messes you up some with flooding your character with mental exp, this means you still have to fight things with phy and magic attacks.

Butz 01-11-2006 09:35 AM

That's true, but being able to add +'s to armor is based on your Base Level. So if they leveled to 107 Mental, and got to 110 base, they could make armor of +12.

Makes fighting physically much easier when nothing can hit you.

Draenin 01-11-2006 09:51 AM

If you want a good idea of just how many it takes, I bought about 500 scrolls from people altogether, and advanced only 3 levels.

ReBorn_Spirit 01-11-2006 09:51 AM

What should happen for scrols should be more like this...

Within 8 levels, normal exp (as is right now or partial exp)
out of 8 level range, 1 exp and no more

This would fix the problem AND give the added bonus of indirect teamwork.

Darklux 01-11-2006 12:51 PM

And your hp rizes. You dont have to forget that, too.

That makes no sense, within 8 levels of what?

This is not a bug, it is available for everyone who wants to work hard for a level. While some people level phys to get WC, I decided to level mental to be able to make scrolls.

Yes you get high HP by getting to level 110, but what do you suggest? Only letting people level phys, magic or wisdom?

Draenin 01-11-2006 09:12 PM

Scrolls are the way they are for a reason. Try to level your mental to level 24 without them, and you'll see what I mean.

CidNight1142 01-11-2006 10:23 PM

I ID'd rex parts and short skull swords and dievel parts for hours upon hours while looking for treasure and gained a few thousand exp. You get a bit more for IDing stuff in bruts and immenses...but as Draenin said, its not practical.

ReBorn_Spirit 01-12-2006 02:02 AM

within 8 levels of the person that wrote the scroll (their mental level is the level of the scrolls spell)

CidNight1142 01-12-2006 05:21 AM

That would essentially leave no way whatsoever to effectively level past level...lets say...25. This those who are already high in mental level would have even more of a monopoly over high mental leveled abilities then they already do, since there would be pretty much no hope for anyone to ever reach that high. Obviously, once one reaches the level to make DoPV they could level, but the amount of time it would take everyone to get there would be ridiculous.

ReBorn_Spirit 01-13-2006 07:02 AM

Simply asking a high level friend to write you a bunch of scrolls isnt playing the game, it defeats the entire purpose to leveling. This isn't a Classic server you know.

The time and grace (?) it takes to write the scrolls would probably stop even the BEST of friends to charge you the normal price for the 2000 scrolls you'd need to level a decent amount.

Darklux 01-13-2006 10:22 AM

Hrm its okay, i thought about what you written about these roles, i think the price is ok for what they do.
