There was an overflow of bomys in Bomboria Trade. It was kind of funny because the wave before that a guy got killed. :P

Ah, yes. The glorious wonders of the systems Stefan refuses to ignore the problems with...

On an aside... Huzzah for magic!

Darklux 01-09-2006 03:49 PM

I hate freaks trying to get the server dying.

The summoned monsters should be limited to ten.

I don't think it was that...

I'm pretty sure your mana will run out before you are able to summon enough monsters to generate any type of server-wide lag.

We will work on the pet system, probably max 3 pets slot, and they can be put into inventory and have stats.

Sacred Shadow 01-09-2006 04:47 PM

Stefan has improved the amount of information the NPC-Server can take, a room of monsters cannot crash it.

o_O sounds interesting.

Draenin 01-09-2006 06:23 PM

Stefan, can you limit the number of horses, pets, etc and have them return to your inventory when you log off? It would save people a lot of frustration.

Also, it's unwise to limit the max number of monsters you can make with summon pet monster, as it's a spell that people actually use to gain magic levels. Limit the ammount of summoned monsters to like 20 - 30.

If they returned to your inventory when you log off, then they would probably never die.

If Stefan does what he said and allow the summoned monsters to gain levels as they kill things, then you may not need 20-30 monsters to level up.

Googi 01-09-2006 07:15 PM

I remember that time I killed Stefan using summoned monsters.

That's kind of the point. It's a lot better to have 3 pets that don't die, rather than 10 pets that are on the server when you're not that take months to die because people keep feeding them. They get in the way a whole lot.

Awesome.

Mana crystals are a fancy little invention. Also, that room full of monsters came VERY close to crashing the server.

-edit- Check out my leet self in the dead center of that picture. Totally frozen due to the server lag.

There's a difference between server lag, and client lag. If people outside of that room were also frozen then it would be server lag. (Take the godly retribution skill, for example.)

CidNight1142 01-09-2006 09:35 PM

The server almost crashed. Lance was over mass pms telling people not to slash and to be patient until the server calmed down.

wrong. eg: Brad, Torankusu, Argo, Sliq turn the Pub into a monster summoning hell hole (with a much better use of logs to stop people from moving, and refreshing of pub room to make all the monsters stand right ontop the door) causes GK server to go offline for 3 hours after Tecumseh loses 200+ diamonds from dying :]

That was ****tabulous.

ReBorn_Spirit 01-10-2006 02:22 AM

Good times. I miss Sliq.

Your going to have to make the "Create Pet Monster" spell be limited by how many times to can cast it, not limited by your mana.

I prefer using hundreds pof summon pet monster scrolls.

cutelilmurderer 02-04-2006 09:04 AM

I was in this picture (as you can see!) and the server did lag up a bit. The trick the player used was writing out a thousand summon pet scrolls and using them in a constant. This costs no mana. After ten or so sets of pets were summoned on my personal experiments, my mana dropped to zero. Good if I was actually casting it. There shouldn't be a stop to that in my opinion because of the personality skill set requiring no mana to use. A limit to how many extra monsters sure, just don't limit us players who have tons of personality experience!

cutelilmurderer 02-04-2006 09:07 AM

I just had this idea to make pets automatically die after more then twenty were summoned by a single player. So if you kept producing them, they would just kill off earlier ones or something... Just a thought.

nullify 02-04-2006 12:35 PM

Firstly don't bump dumb threads. Secondly, you can summon thousands of pets within minutes. The time limit wouldn't help in the least.
