The Religious Ranks of Zormite

As it stands, other leaders are giving detailed explanations of their ranks, and their systems. I will also do this here for the sake of consistency, and to provide a reference to fellow Zormites.

The Ranks

Pater - The Holy Leader of Zormite. Oversees all religious activities.
Cardinal - A member of the Pater's personal society. Enormously powerful.
Archbishop - Oversees all religious activities on any given nation.
Bishop - Oversees the activities of all priests of any given city.
Priest - Performs religious activities, soldier of magic.
Semanarian - A learner, he/she is becoming a priest.
Neophyte - Entry rank, probationary.


The Ceremonies

There are various ceremonies performed by the priesthood.

Weddings
You need not be a Zormite to be married by a Zormite priest. You must express love for your significant other, and a desire to share your life with him/her. The priest will provide your wedding rings, and a blessing will take place. Guests are welcome and a reception usually follows. This is performed by a priest, or higher.

Funerals
In the event of the death of a character (( through quitting, or through execution )) his/her body is sent to sea, and they are blessed into the afterlife. This is performed by a priest or higher, again, visitors are welcome.

Blessings
Newborn babies may be blessed at a chapel at any time by a priest or higher.

Christenings
New ships/blimps are blessed and given their names. This is done by the Archbishop or higher.

Invocation
This pre-war invocation to Okiara requests her help in the coming hardships. This is open to only Zormite, and the allies with whom Zormite relates. This is done by the Pater himself, with the aid of the entire ministry as they bless and protect each individual troop who is going to war.


The Trials

Finally, this is the detailed path one must follow to become a Cardinal, the most sought after rank in the priesthood.

Neophyte - Semanarian
Simpy be a Neophyte for 3 days.

Semanarian - Priest
Express interest in the priesthood, work on levelling magic, and wisdom.

Priest - Bishop
Perform at least one of the prementioned ceremonies with the help of the Pater.

Bishop - Archbishop
Build and furnish a chapel for the nation you will be leading in religion. You must also reside in this chapel and abandon your worldly home.

Archbishop - Cardinal
Seek out a holy cross to represent yourself. Once you have brought it to your altar, performed a sufficient number of ceremonies, and the Pater chooses you, you will become a Cardinal.


This is a daunting test of dedication and strength.
I will inform the kingdom in this thread when someone has chosen to undertake the trials.

My character on Graal Kingdoms is a Semanarian working on magic and wisdom to become a priest. :)

I'm finding it hard to get hold of a wand to even level in magic.

Really? Wands are easy to get. I think they are only like 10 plat in the magic shops. But since you're in Zormite I suggest you get a Zormite Wand which is also very easy to get. Just give a diamond to some guy on Zormite (ask around) and then he'll give you the wand. :)

1. To name: christened the kitten “Snowball.”
2. To name and dedicate ceremonially: christen a ship.
3. To use for the first time: christened the new car by going for a drive.

Very good, you can use a dictionary. His point remains valid, as you've failed to provide etymology. As there was no Christ in the Graalian instance of exsistance, it would not be referred to as a Christening, regardless of how the word evolved in our usage today.

I thought the whole point of Zormite returning was to bring back old Zormite. I guess I was wrong? The only thing that hasn't changed is the name Zormite, but it's a totally different kingdom. o-O
