PNG Editor

Does anyone know a good free program that saves '.png' files that actually WORK with Graal?

Butz 01-03-2006 10:39 PM

At the very least, you could save as a .gif, then use the gif2mng program in the graal directory.

Instant png/mng. :D

talkingnoodle 01-03-2006 10:53 PM

When I use MSPaint and save as '.gif' the color quality is horrible x_x

in the non-graal related forums there is a list of free programs for things like graphic design, you should find it there

haro41 01-04-2006 01:22 AM

if your using graal v4. any png will work with graal.
if your not using v4, then you need to save your png in 8bit mode. 256 colors.

about the MSpaint problem, MSPaint saves as .GIF which is the smallest memory usuage and the SMALLEST Bit map. when you increase those that's when .GIF turns into .gif

Can't help you, buddy.
TorrentSpy and BitComet are your friends

The Gimp can definitely do what you're asking.

As a very last resort, you could open the BMP you get from MSPaint in Irfanview, then save it as a gif that can be gif2mng'd

Personally, I'd use the Gimp though.

davidpsy 01-04-2006 03:00 AM

If you don't know how to use gif2mng just ask.

MSPaint only saves PNGs as 24 bit PNGs.

He needs 8 Bit PNGs in order for them to work in older versions of Graal.

I seriously hope you were joking about this.

Serif PhotoPlus 6.0
Google it

It's a free program that is a lot like Paint Shop Pro
You can export many different file types and it has useful tools
And since v2 is going to be dsabled (or has been already?) and everyone will be using v4 so using 24 bit pngs will be possible now
I've been exporting 8 bit gifs and using the gif2mng converter to get pngs since this program doesnt give you the option of exporting an 8 bit png
I hope you find this program useful
I know I have

If your intrested in getting a good graphic program and willing to break copywright laws that might be attached to a certain program. Visit torrentspy dot com. I won't give you any more details since I'm pretty sure i'll be prosecuted and sentinced to death my moonie or another forum admin for giving you such information.

Rawr, if you use paint, heres what I do yo.

save it as a 24bit bmp. Get Giffy, you can set the transparency here too, and save it as a gif using giffy. Then, use the GIF2MNG from the graal setup. This is how I do all my graphics :]

Also, sinse a while ago people were having trouble finding giffy, ill temporarily put it on my vip hosting :]
