Graphic Variety

What if we had the chance to move the stats of our weapon/armor/etc. onto a different graphic? This would allow people to look different and not have EVERYONE wearing a pmop/fhom and everyone looking like clones of one another. It could also allow kingdoms to have matching uniforms without having to have everyone with the exact same armor. This would of course cost a certain price, but I think would be a good idea.

Felix_Xenophobe 01-02-2006 11:47 PM

I like it. Especially kingdom uniforms.

CidNight1142 01-03-2006 12:12 AM

Actually I really like this idea. Perhaps it would take a certain type of scroll. One that would run in shops for 1k, with the rarety of an EA or so.

Draenin 01-03-2006 12:45 AM

Some people buy items for looks, though, and it'd render their purchases devoid of value.

i have basically the best armor stat wise you can get, but it looks ugly

i think it'd be neat if we could make those crappy swords which look cool like the jade sword worth something

or give a sai dagger the stats of an FID, etc.

Give gold chain mail graphic the same stats as a pmop.

You know something like that. Just so people can look different.

No, it wouldn't. If anything, it would make them more valuable. This plan would allow you to give all the powers of one item to another's graphical appearance. Thus, pretty things would rise in value while powerful things would either stay the same or take a small dip in price.

Eh, using the current bug that allows you to equip weapons while being of Brigid, you can mask your weapon as another. Just place the two weapons as hotkeyed 'o' and 'p' then hit them at the same time until the result you wish happens.

Powerful things would go up in price too. This would create demand for powerful items among people using "pretty" items and demand for "pretty" items among people using powerful items. So both will increase in price, meaning the introduction of such an item would cause inflation. It should still happen though.

I like this idea

ApothiX 01-03-2006 08:15 AM

This reminds me of Maple Story's cash shop.

I don't think the ability to exploit a bug should be a reason to stifle a good idea. I don't think thats what you mean, but some might argue a "you can do this already, its called glitching" idea. Mainly those that own rare pretty items and profit off people paying them to let them glitch with their items.

Draenin 01-03-2006 09:03 AM

The Brigid bug existing is driving me mad.

Did I say anything about the idea being bad? I merely stated a way to get his desired looks at the moment. The idea is brilliant and one that many have had in the past. :whatever:

As for the Brigid bug? Yeah, extremely annoying, but hey atleast it's usable in a good way?

Draenin 01-03-2006 09:14 AM

No, it's not usable in a good way. It's usable in a very bad way. It is allowing people to get some of the more strong pieces of armor in the game that are meant solely for the use of mages while being able to fully use the power of prepped weapons.

Read my post again, you'll see I said that I didn't think you meant the idea was bad. I simply meant that some may believe it is bad, and I think that those people are stupid. They also probably have a low self esteem. They might even be commies....dirty stinking commies.

Draenin 01-03-2006 09:25 AM

I am offended. :O

I was refering to my use of the bug.
That use is just mean. :frown:

Don't be a user, striker. *sends striker to rehab*

I have another idea like this.

You find a piece of armor, then take it to a special anvil, and then, you could get, like AC +6 for 6 diamonds and so on. Here is an example:

I want a golden plate mail with +83 armour and +12 ac. First i go find the golden plate mail, then i get the nescessary diamonds to make it, then head to the anvil, and, optionally, i choose a name for it, and then, im done! I have now have:

Golden Plate Mail Of Stevsen (+83 armour)(ac+12)

Sure, further the gap between rich and poor players, thats a great idea.

The last thing this server needs is players with even higher AC.

Brad 01-03-2006 11:00 PM

ac is wayy too high already

Although I agree this is a bad idea because it would add more AC. But I think it would effectively lessen the gap between rich and poor. Only a few diamonds to get some AC on a piece of armour would allow poorish players to have some AC and defend themselves. Again, still, last thing we need is more AC.

It would lessen no gap, it would only widen it.

Who has more diamonds, the rich or the poor?

Even if you put a limit on how much you could add, the rich still have the same advantage, since they've got the money to buy EA's and other things like that.

Saved me a post

Delete EAs :)
This way all we can have is shields and helmets and what not without being +12 .. o_O

CidNight1142 01-04-2006 10:32 AM

These ideas were suggested in a thread earlier. Delete all EAs and prepping. Although its a neat idea, it would be a big change we won't likely see for a while.

Only because a certain few have no grasp of how much those two elements affect things.

While we are at it scrap levels, gods, event items, alchemy items. Eveybody can be equal and the game will be so much better.

CidNight1142 01-04-2006 06:43 PM

In my opinion the chance of prepping and enchanting going bye-bye is approximately equal to the chance of their being a reset anytime soon. So..essentially...there is none.
